Yes they definitely have some huge wins over us and some big years for them.

We can never live down the Aints and the Bagheads.

NOW... All that being said. Recent history does not support any idea of them beating us on Sunday.

Are they living in the past? YES

Are we perhaps living too much in the now? Sure I can see that.

They keep pushing that all time record against us. It's 4 more games. How long do they think it will take us make up those 4 games?

I like numbers and stats as much as the next guy. I'm a stats geek - I admit.

And while the Falcons fan is correct about the 47-43 edge, perhaps this prepubescent tike should realize is that MOST of the Falcons edge in the series comes from pre-Mora days when this franchise was on its proverbial back.


From 1967-1985 the Falcons were 23-11.

Since then, we hold a 32-24 advantage over the Falcons (32-25 including the playoff loss). Imagine what it would have been if not for the Ditka years...

It sounds like they are living in the past. The Falcons did make to a trip to the Super Bowl but didn't win. I don't think that fact was mentioned.

I will give him his stats but, ahead of us by 4 games in the series isn't insurmountable. I think the 49ers have a 21 game advantage over us in the series with them. 4 games isn't much. We can reverse that in 2 or 3 seasons.

My kids only know the "Great" years. I have told them about where the Saints used to be. Anyone who was a Saints fan from the 90's on back to '67 know full well our history as Saints Fans. A group proved it by wearing dresses and dance down Bourbon Street when we won the SB. (In honor of Buddy D)

Face it Falcon fans; you are looking for anything to make you all feel good about yourselves. Who cares about the past. Hell, we won a SB and it's still not good enough for us. We want another and then we will want another after that.

That 47-43 head to head, it's kinda been closing fast but to be fair yes, they owned us for a while and we have owned them for a while, it's almost a wash. Where it is not a wash though is there is no denying the Saints have had more success in the second season.

I don't really care what what we've done in the past, and what the Saints have done in the past, because all that is water under the bridge when our teams suit up. Your Super Bowl trophy won't get you a win just like our 47-43 record we hold over you won't get us a win either.

I think Sean Payton was perhaps the first head coach in Saints history who understood immediately as soon as he got here, that he needed to have the Falcons' number, that the success of any coach in New Orleans depended upon being able to consistently ring the Falcons bell or clean their clocks on a regular basis. He realized it wasn't enough to just beat the Falcons some of the time, randomly; he needed to own them and be their Daddy. He obviously puts in the extra homework required to get the job done, and has never disappointed us in that regard. I think Sean Payton understands the rivalry in a way that other previous Saints coaches never really "got" it.

I've read it repeatedly on Falcon forums that they believe New Orlenians didn't support the Saints until Brees/Payton. Undoubtedly there are more Saints fans now than ever but I think were the most loyal fans in the league. Before Brees/Payton there were MANY abissmal seasons but EVERY year my dumb ass actually believed we were gonna win the SuperBowl and I'm far from alone. I was certain that Fourcade was gonna lead us to the promised land! Even in the worst years, rarely was a game blacked out. I moved to Livingston Parish 10 years ago and you couldn't find a Saints fan here back then and now they're all on the bandwagon. 90% of the trucks here have a Fleur de Lis sticker on em now. There are a lot of new Saints fans and all are welcome on the bandwagon but plenty of us cheered for Aaron Brooks, old ass Kenny Stabler and Danny Wuerffel too. All I have to say is that after Sunday I bet plenty Falcon fans wish they were WHODATS too!
