How the New Orleans Saints built their 53-man roster
For years, the oft-repeated saying around the New Orleans Saints locker room has been that "it's not how you got here."
What that means is that every player has a shot to make the roster, whether they where an undrafted rookie free agent, a draft pick, or a future Hall of Famer. That's been the case every year. In 2007, undrafted rookie running back Pierre Thomas played so well in camp that he made the roster ahead of fourth-rounder Antonio Pittman. One of the reasons we get some good free agents. They know they have a true chance to make the team.

The difference between Payton and Haslett is probably about the same as the difference between Haslett and Ditka. Ditka years, now that was rock bottom.
