Goes back to my theory... you put on your rosters players that will help you win now. Griffin isn't one of them.

I don't know how much Fortt has to offer mid season if he comes back.

I think people tend to evaluate Griffin the way they do mainly because he's a Tulane graduate. If he had come from another program; I don't think he would be held in such high regard.

I truly haven't seen anything spectacular from him this far... at least nothing that SP couldn't coax out of some other low-round/UDFA prospect.

I agree with that FinSaint.

Case in point: Meachem will see the field more this season than Griffin even if Griffin was on the roster.

hopefully we don't need him much as Stills, Cooks and Morgan are blowing the top off things

he always seems to get one deep ball a game
and be invisible the rest of the time

I agree, but on a "glass half full" note, it must mean that we expect Stills and Lorig back before week 6.

I don't think it's Tulane but the kid looked awesome and had field presence in the first preseason game. That said, he didn't show much after that, only a few sparks.

Luke McCown earned his spot at second string. I honestly don't care who is second string or starts, all I want to do is win!

I was pulling for Griffin but he was clearly outplayed by McCown in the last two preseason games.

That being said McCown looked like a mess in the first two games.

We have to hope Drew stays healthy.

Smart. Nobody was going to pick him up for a lot of reasons. He was pigeon holed in our offense. Nowhere else to go and it saved some coin for other diabolical moves.

You're right he did pretty good in the second game, I guess I was just remembering how much better Griffin looked.

Griffin looked like the smooth, calm starter and McCowen looked stiff and slow, like a back up.

I am certainly glad we brought back Meach and know for damn sure that he is playing at a higher level than Toon.

I ask myself this question, would I rather Meach or Toon on 3rd and 3 catching a curl route for the 1st?

Meachum pulled off one of the great hustle plays ever. He has the knowledge of the offense and I think he still has a lot to offer.
