Ryan Griffin to sign with Saints practice squad after clearing waivers
 

Quarterback Ryan Griffin will sign with the New Orleans Saints' practice squad a day after being waived by the team, a league source told NOLA.com on Wednesday.

A second-year player from Tulane, Griffin spent part of last year on the Saints' practice squad before being moved to the active roster.

He was waived Tuesday when the Saints re-signed kicker Shayne Graham to the active roster. After clearing waivers, Griffin was a free agent eligible to sign with any team, but opted to remain with the Saints.

"It is part of the deal when you are dealing with (the 53-man roster) and looking at your numbers," Saints coach Sean Payton said Wednesday. "We've had two (quarterbacks) on the active roster. We've also had three. It was what we felt was best heading into this week."

Isn't it obvious the reason we cut the kicker was to have all of the other teams fix there roster with QBs so they wouldn't pick up on Griffin so fast? Now they have to cut the person they just agreed with. This is why we signed the kicker days later. Duh...
