Too much to let go
It seems to be pretty well resolved there will be no head coaching change in New Orleans.
Firing Jim Haslett along with hiring a new coach and a new staff would burden owner Tom Benson for around $10-12 million. Benson met with Haslett last week, and the sentiment was for Haslett to stay. Paying out that kind of money isn't timely because the state of Louisiana has been lax in paying the guarantees from the most recent lease restructuring.
A bad finish would poison those chances, and the team responded Sunday with a 27-13 victory over the Cowboys. That helped Haslett's cause.
Changes will have to be made on Haslett's staff after the season.
