Brees turnovers
What I take from this game is that both Brees and Payton need to accept the fact that for the first time in years we look to have an actual real threat running the ball. They do not need to rely strictly on Brees and the air game like they have in the past. Brees is getting older and the older he gets the smarter he has to play and the same goes with Payton and his play calling. Brees doesn't need to carry the weight of the entire offense on his shoulders anymore. Can he still do it on his own? Yes probably to some extent but why should he when we look to have a solid running game. There were at least 3 other times I saw Brees make some very scary and stupid throws that could have easily resulted in turnovers. He has shown in the past that he will force the ball in a panic at times.
I just hope to god Payton realizes what he has in the run game and uses it. You don't get points for style. He could have easily taken more time off the clock in that last drive too. |
Re: Brees turnovers
I would like to say that our corners apparently suck ballz. Our secondary was just atrocious today. Get Champ Bailey back in there, he couldn't have been as bad as this!

Re: Brees turnovers
Brees only had 1 turnover; Colston had the other.
That is all |

Re: Brees turnovers
Brees was sharp for the most part today. A couple over/under-thrown balls but nothing atrocious. Good coverage on the endzone INT - Brees forced it.
More bothered by the defensive apathy than anything. |
Re: Brees turnovers
We should have continued to run the ball/screen in the second half,

Re: Brees turnovers
OFFENSE WASN'T THE DAMN PROBLEM!!!!!
What the hell is wrong with you guys? |
Re: Brees turnovers
The offense contributed to the loss by not converting one of the first 2 field goals into 7 points & of course turning it over in the endzone didn't help either.

Sorry, but I really can't take anyone seriously that points a finger at the offense, especially when our defense gave up more yards than any game during the historically bad 2012 Spags season. Offense - A minus Defense - F |
Re: Brees turnovers
We all know Brees is going to force it a few times each game; that one just happened to cost us. Even if we get three there the games ends differently (albeit maybe the same outcome).
Brees was not perfect, but with what we have invested on defense right now, he shouldn't have to be. |
Re: Brees turnovers
Brees and the offense was the only reason we didn't lose by 3 scores.

Re: Brees turnovers
I didn't see the 3 safety look. Maybe I'm wrong. I just didn't see it.
What I did see was decent run defense and really bad pass coverage. I expected our defensive line to make more of an impact than what they did. One sack...from a backup? I know we rarely blitzed but our defense was not very aggressive. I'm not freakin out. There's no need to. But I hope RR gets that D back to what they were doing last year. That was terrible. |

Re: Brees turnovers
This could possibly be the most ignorant thread I have read. The offense had almost 600 yards. The defense gave up 600 yards. Any questions?

Yet some people want to blame that on Brees. I just don't understand that. |
