I was kind of wondering how many guys on this board we'd need to be giving oxygen to when Saban goes to the Fins?

i feel Saban will have the same results as steve spurrier, couple of years in the nfl then back to college, also i would not want him as the saints coach., its a diffent world in the pros

I would take Saban as coach, he has NFL experience under belicheck and sure knows how to put a defense together

BMG, I for one am already hypernetilating. All those that say he will be like this bust coach and that bust coach need to ask themselves the biggest question of all, how many good players has he put into the NFL? Every receiver that came out of Florida just about has been a bust, cause of Spurrier\'s system. Saban coaches professionals. That alone speaks volumes about the difference between he and Spurrier. Clayton, Peterman, James, Gay, Hill, Lavalais, Jarvis Green, with Webster and Spears coming. And Wilkerson. Saban flat out knows how to coach.

Nothing new - I\'ve watched good coaches go elsewhere for two years - a third won\'t surprise me.

I disagree with the thought of Saban not doing good.... ala Steve Spurrier. Spurrier was an offensive coach and he had an ego bigger than Deon Sanders\'. The NFL now is a defensive league and Saban would be great.

I also say that If he were ever to leave LSU to coach the Saints, that would upset alot of Tiger Fans a hell of lot more than if he went to Miami.

I think the defensive aspect might be what interests Saban in Miami. The tools are there for him to have a dominating squad - Zach Thomas, Jay Taylor, David Bowens, etc. Not to mention an excellent secondary with Surtain, Madison, Freeman and Knight. They stole Will Poole in last year\'s draft (4th round?), and are obviously poised to have a great pick next year. With a little consistency from the offense - to give them a breather now and again - this defense could be a monster under Saban.

By comparison, he simply doesn\'t have as much to work with in New Orleans on the defensive side. Sure, there\'s some talent there, but we\'re the worst defense in the league for a reason...

I think that reason is coaching mutey. A problem Saban could help solve.

Yeah, I\'ve never been a big Venturi fan, either. I\'m not saying I wouldn\'t like to see Saban take a shot in New Orleans, just that it seems to me the potential for a dominating defense is greater in Miami.

If we had the defensive talent we sometimes fool ourselves into thinking we do, the talent alone should be enough to get us out of the cellar. Conversely, better coaching would probably help get us out of there, too. Heck, just last year we were in the middle of the pack. What the heck happened this season?

Supposedly, Saban and his family love it here in Louisiana. Of course that could just be BS he\'s put out there while declining coaching offers in the past, but, New Orleans is just an hour down the interstate....
