Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
1 Attachment(s)
The New Orleans Saints can't wait to take the field again Sunday to try and rebound from their painful loss at Atlanta. But it won't be an easy Week 2 game at Cleveland (0-1) in the Browns' own home opener.

This game definitely has me concerned. Im glad the Saints have kept their mouths shut this week.

If we dominate both sides, that's called a blowout.
If we tackle and catch, that's call a win. |
Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
No they won't. They made a pretty impressive comeback. Scoring 21 unanswered points is pretty impressive no matter who you are playing. If our defense doesn't play significantly better ball we will be 0-2.

Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
Spread is 9. If Mike Ditka drives a rascal scooter, in the rain, all the way to Cleveland and coaches us the Saints still win.

Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
Me i'm not worried, we won't roll over them but we will win!

Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
Who IS an easy team in the NFL? Maybe the Saints?!

Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
It's not going to be a cake walk............But we can do it:razz:

Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
The cake walk starts at our missed tackles, our missed blocking assignments, and our own self-inflicted idiocy (stupid penalties and turn-overs). These happen, the Browns win the cake walk.
The Browns D is no joke, and the Browns special teams is superior to ours. If our defense doesn't win out over the Browns D, that gives the Browns 2 out of 3 phases of the game in their favor. Just take a quick peek at the depth chart for the Browns...a lot of talent on the D-Line, Linebacker, CB, and Safety. The sky ain't fallin', but we'd better start ballin'...that's mine, so steal it and deal it. I'm awesome... |
Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
When did NOLA.com hire the lisping Cindy Brady to do their video commentary?
Seriously, this game may tell us a lot about how the season will progress. If our defense is a no-show second week in a row then everyone will need to revise their win/loss potential. |
Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
I hate to say this so early in the season but this is a must win because it is on the road and because 0 - 2 is much worse than 1 - 1.

We haven't had a cake walk since the Colts a couple years back.

Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
Watched the Cleveland vs Pitt game last night and here are a few takeaways
1 - The defense is fast and ferocious, however they over-pursue and are undisciplined along the front 7. This allows teams to be successful in misdirection and screen plays. 2 - Hoyer is indecisive and if his 1st read is not there he will tend to hold on to the ball and take a sack. He does not force a ball into tight coverage which leads to him holding the ball longer than he should, which means more sacks. 3 - Terrance West is big, fast, and elusive. I was impressed with his vision and the way he broke through tackles against Pitt. So, how do we have success against this team? Press man coverage with multiple blitz packages, do not play soft zone. Drew needs to be Drew. Utilize the pump fake and get Pierre involved in the screen game. If the offense can get going early, and not let up on scoring points, then the defense is allowed to pin its ears back and play Rob Ryan football. If we can't stop West, it is going to be a long day. This is a game where I'd like to see us receive the ball first and make a statement, as opposed to waiting until the 2nd half. |
Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
The only thing that worries me is that our boys are as over-confident as us fans are. We've seen the result of that every year as we always seem to overlook and inferior opponent and get our teeth kicked in.
If we play our A-game, we win by 2 scores. B-game... Saints in a squeaker. C-game, we lose. |

If our D plays how they did last year, I'll be pretty confident If they play how they did last week, I'll feel like calling it an 8-8 season at best |
Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
Yeah it is a must win but if we win at Pittsburgh week 13, then it could offset this if we lose. We have easier games after this week to even at 2-2 or go 3-1. Then we have the three game homestand weeks 10-12. If we do end up 0-2 I think we could really only lose to GB or Car before the home stretch. I think we win off the bye at Detroit and the bucs game is one to watch. If we win all three home games in that stretch we're 7-4 or 8-3 and we win in Pittsburgh and at home against Carolina we are 9-4 or 10-3. Then its basically Chicago and TB we'd need to win one at and we could be 11-5 or 12-4. Our games start off hard first two weeks then gets easier after the bye and in December our road games are against an older offense, a offense led by Cutler, and TB which will obviously be tough. Its not like Seattle and St.Louis last year.
But I'd feel better if we win tomorrow. |

Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
If last weeks defense shows up for the next 15 games, we can expect the same results as 2012; 7-9, 8-8...........
This team always finds a way to beat the clowns; now they found a way to lose to them. Sorry, having a difficult time w/ this loss. |

Re: Browns won't be a cake walk for the Saints
I really look forward to this game, they are a heavy run team, our front 7 is going to be the key, they will be heavily tested today. We get to see if our run D is any good or not, they better man up and not play that finness crap or the front 7 will get their butts handed to them. On the O side we are better equiped but will need to go with a heavy run to tire out a very good D they have, the AFC is pretty much a heavy run conferance and unless we somehow get a couple strikes up on them they will continue to slug it our. Should be a good game, one our boys have to reach deep on.

With Vaccaro cheating up in the box, and I expect he will, we should be able to limit the damage. They don't have a trio like Julio, Roddy and Douglas to force us to play safe. And while Matt Ryan isn't in the same league as Brady, Brees and Rodgers, he's significantly better than Brian Hoyer. |

I would venture to say that we lost that type of game last week. Everyone was talking blow-out VS ATL, even the players were talking about them being little brother. Not much talking the worst defense in the NFL can do, hopefully these guys get the chip on the shoulder they need to ball-out. |

I'm pretty certain that if we actually lose to them, it'll be standing room only on the ledge. |

a win is a win, if we do win today and we really need to, be happy with it. The browns play in a tough defensive division and are only a couple players away from being team that wins over 8 games a season |
