Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson

METAIRIE, La. -- New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton didn’t give any indication Monday as to whether he intends to make a permanent change at the cornerback position after starter Patrick Robinson was demoted to the nickel back role during Sunday’s 26-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns. However, fellow cornerback Keenan Lewis offered a passionate defense of his teammate Monday morning, after Robinson took a brunt of the criticism following the defeat. “I’m going to root for him until the end. That’s my brother, and I feel he is one of the best in the league,” Lewis said, according to The Times-Picayune. Read More Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson - New Orleans Saints Blog - ESPN |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
It was the costly penalties that were the issue, more than the big play. And if the coverage wasn't blown there at the end, his penalty there would have also pushed them closer.
Lewis is supporting him because they stick together as a D unit, and good for him, but come on. |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
Although I am highly critical of P. Robinson I don't want Sean Payton to lose the players confidence and respect by this decision. Now with that said, next man up Corey White "PROVE PAYTON MADE THE RIGHT DECISION"

The Saints defense looked like the Keystone Kops on that play. |

Love the support but this is why players play and coaches coach and make the decisions. Next man up.

Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
Lewis is teaching Khiry how to stand by your team mates without pissing the fans off.

It's great to have his back. But really. He is not who we though he was. |

Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
You guys need to stop with this BS! Pat is not the only player who has had a bad start to the season. No changes are needed right now and if you call yourself a real Saints fan...you should know a few things about Bad Games!

Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
I back PRob also. Back to 2nd string that is....
He looks lost. Sorry but this game comes with scrutiny. Everyone knows that. |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
Who's got Lewis's back?

The defense as a unit has been terrible. And PRob has not played well against the Falcons or the lowly Browns. Its not like the Browns are an offensive juggernaut. The defense deserves its criticism and so does PRob. |

I have to disagree with you on this one. We drafted this guy 4 years ago in hopes of him becoming a solid corner. Robinson has looked bad in more than a handful of games. Whether it was in Spaggs system, The Big Lebowski (Ryan), injuries or whatever, he is flat out lost & confused. I understand the pass rush has been lacking thus far, but mentally I don't think PRob is there & his confidence seems to be broken. The body language tells the story for me. We have allowed him more than enough opportunities to succeed, however he simply isn't that good. Wasn't SJB drafted in the 2nd round? Is Dixon up for the challenge? CWhite? As another poster stated... next man up. |

Looks like Robinson is the problem:

Quote:
Corey white and Keenan Lewis double cover the same man Patrick Robinson tries to tackle a double covered receiver and the lone receiver would have walked into the end zone if hoyer would have thrown a better pass Disaster all around The fact we have 2 sacks on the season is embarrassing, the whole D line need to step up, including Cam Jordan |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson

I'm sure the coaching staff takes that into consideration. |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
I don't give a **** if PRob stays or goes, gets cut or starts, wears blue shoes or black shoes, just fix the defense Rob Ryan.

Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
now I think it's time to demote Sean Payton from callin offensive plays. I honestly thought he was gonna use our workhorse RB's more especially after the suspension and after seeing Mark Ingram averaging 8 yards per carry in the game. How do you only give this guy 11 touches for the game ? ?? Drew Brees can't to it alone . . RUN THE FN BALL DAMMITT ! ! !! ! ! ! !

You've got some really high expectations. |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
Week 1: 42 pass attempts, 28 rush attempts
Week 2: 40 pass attempts, 27 rush attempts That's a perfect balance for our team in my opinion. When a team has an elite QB like we do, it's probably wise to be a little pass heavy.. That's the strength of our team, and I think we should utilize it more often than not. We need to use the pass to set up the run, not the other way around. I have no complaints with Sean's playcalling. |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
The defense gets penalties because of a lack of focus and the offense stumbles under pressure. It keeps one in a high state of pissifissity!

Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
Agree
If the run is working better and you are moving the ball consistently well keep running. Ingram having a injury may have affected that gameplan though |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
Not only was Ingram running the ball well but did anyone see him juke out nearly the browns entire defense when Brees threw to him in flat.
Such a shame he got injured, hope he can come back soon |
Re: Saints' Lewis passionately backs Robinson
PFF has Keenan Lewis as the worst CB in the NFL? The scheme is crap. I think everyone wondered what was going on when we saw the secondary playing a half a mile off the receivers.
