Blog
Been asked to help on a website to write a blog on US sports. Naturally like the others it will be based on my team mostly. Most weeks will be in short topics on 4 different things regarding the Saints.
Never written anything before so if anyone does similar could they give me a link. I'm thinking of covering two points on current Saints issues, maybe recap the game and another looking at general news. Then im thinking doing one bit on a player/moment in Saints history (will help me with learning more of the past players etc, so if anyone has links to good sites/books or would like to answer some questions that would be great). The last bit looking at either looking at a player the Saints may be interested in drafting the next year or upcoming free agents and doing a bit on players to watch in the draft in a seperate piece for college football). Any help would be great Even just a suggestion on who to look out for in drafts, players of the past etc. |
Re: Blog
Who/what is your target audience? Type of website?
|
Re: Blog
Its a site for US sports fans mostly from the UK.
Not sure how many people look at the site but I know a few og tbe writers and was asked to help so I said id give it a go. Been given the questions they are all answering this week. 1st Down: What do you make of your team's start to the season? 2nd Down: Who or what has been the most pleasant surprise? 3rd Down: and the biggest disappointment? 4th Down: Your team's MVP so far? The Extra Point: Predictions for the season? So ill aswer these and see how it goes. I'll post a link once its up. |
Re: Blog
This is the website.
http://www.unclesamsports.com/?cat=3 Not much on there at the moment and few writers. All liverpool fans and members of our fantasy league. Good thing about that is I should get the chance to do the bits on the draft etc I want. Know if I can just get a trip to the superdome, draft and combine as a tax write off ill be a happy man |

That's pretty cool. Congrats lee. (first thing you might want to explain to them is an extra point doesn't follow 4th down) :) Seriously cool though. |
Re: Blog
Lol
My first piece is up if anyone fancies having a look. First time I have done this so any feedback or errors will be helpful. Doing a bit now on players for next years draft. I know its early but it may give some fans over here some playeds to keep a eye on. I have our needs as OLB/ILB/CB while pointing out the rookies could well fill thesr roles by seasons end. Also mentioned Oline depth and possible need at RB(ingram contract) anyone I need to mention? http://www.unclesamsports.com/?p=227 |

Strief rates well, but that's just plain ugly to watch when his assignment requires him to move out in space... Grubbs was overpaid compensation for the mistake of letting Nicks walk; he's gotten worse since his arrival and has looked plain awful this year... Goodwin has looked just plain old at times and supposed struggled to beat out Lelito... Age is now catching up to Evans who has fallen from the elite guards in the league and along with Grubbs, is gobbling up too much salary cap vs the guards effectiveness... Armstead is emerging has a bona fide star at Left Tackle with his freakish size/speed gifts and is the anchor upon which they can rebuild the line... Lelito is the only depth the line has developing... Linebacker and the line are the most crucial priorities in the draft to address; Corey White is getting better and Stanley Jean Baptiste looks like he'll take a whole season and offseason to show what he's about... |
Re: Blog
Lee...
Great read, well done, my friend... |
Re: Blog
Pretty similar to what I have though im not as down on the three interior linemen. Agree far too much cap spent there though. Im still optomistic on Goodwin as the line has got a decent push so far this year but he is no longterm option.
Also have some hopes with Fortt but he needs to stay healthy. That bit should be up next week |
Re: Blog
Liverpool fans? They can read?

Very clean and honest assessment with out getting caught up in any weeds. For your target audience I would say it is perfect. You identified areas of obvious concern with out assuming you had the obvious answer, which not many of us do, and quite frankly with so much influence coming from other areas that would be difficult to nail down. Pass coverage isn't what we are looking for but neither is pass rush and they can affect each other. I would say if I were not an American football fan and were just a casual watcher from another country, you gave me a feel for the present state of the team, identified what I should look out for, and gave me talking points at the water cooler. I would come back and read your next article. :bng: |
Re: Blog
Thanks
I wanted to try and keep it pretty simple to start with ad see if i enjoy it and how it goes. We were just asked for a couple of paragraphs on each question so it would be harder to go into more details in a short article. Im looking forward to giving this a go now as before i was a little unsure as i tend to ramble on if allowed. I have been listening to Jeff Duncans book "Tales from the New Orleans Saints Sideline: A Collection of the Greatest Saints Stories Ever Told" and it is very interesting for a fan that wasn't brought up in the states and is a late comer to the Saints and anymore than a passing interest in NFL. I'd like to cover some stories from the past and look back at some of the glorious and not so glorious history of the team. It will be 5 years since the Superbowl win at the end of this year and if any of you would be happy to relive that night i may put up some questions about what the night was like as a Saints fan. I remember listening to the NFC championship game on BBC radio at work and it was the story of the team that pulled me in as a fan. So while i wanted the Saints to win i wasn't a fan at that point. |
