Saints Not Ignoring 7-8 Record Over 15 Games
1 Attachment(s)
The New Orleans Saints remain confident after their 0-2 start. But they aren’t ignoring the very real problems that need to be corrected.
Coach Sean Payton pointed out to the team on Wednesday morning that they’re actually 7-8 over their past 15 games, including the playoffs (2-8 on the road). And the biggest problem has been their inability to finish. During that stretch, the Saints have surrendered late leads to the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers in 2012, as well as the Atlanta Falcons and Cleveland Browns in the first two weeks this year. They also had late rallies fall short last season at the New York Jets and at the Seattle Seahawks in the playoffs. New Orleans Saints not ignoring 7-8 record over last 15 games - ESPN |

2-8 on the road?
OUCH!!! |
Re: Saints Not Ignoring 7-8 Record Over 15 Games
Dang...that playoff game win @PHI certainly distorts that 2-8 on the road record. 7-8 over the last 15 games ain't pretty, either. Are the wheels comin' off? No, but it is a surreal and sobering fact. Those #'s don't lie.

Re: Saints Not Ignoring 7-8 Record Over 15 Games
We were screwed at New England and at Carolina.
But nonetheless, even 9-6 isn't exactly domination. But lets not lose sight of the fact that 2 of those 8 road losses were at Seattle, which was clearly the very best team in the NFL last year and unbeatable at home. And the stat conveniently leaves out the 5-0 record right before the New England game. So it looks ominous, until you look closer. |

TALK IS CHEAP!! Make the moves you need to make to get the team straightened out like cutting Patrick Robinson. It just boggles the mind that he beat out Champ Baily unless Baily is still hurt. Still, play the rook and let him get some experience. Can't be worse than it already is.

I don't have PFF access but I read elsewhere that the worst rated starting CB in the entire NFL is... Keenan Lewis? That can't be true, can it? |
Re: Saints Not Ignoring 7-8 Record Over 15 Games
Well they must be ignoring it because I haven't seen any changes to improve in that area.

Re: Saints Not Ignoring 7-8 Record Over 15 Games
We need to get pressure on the QB. No corner in the league is good enough to cover receivers with the time we have given the first two teams. It makes Prob look worse than he really is.

Re: Saints Not Ignoring 7-8 Record Over 15 Games
Ok, I am back...
With a list of 1-94th that play over 25% of their teams defensive snaps Lewis is 89th (overall grade). If you sort by coverage grade Lewis is 95th... But this is one of those areas where weighting doesn't make sense to me. Same list sorted by Overall Grade Rob Alfred Atl (3 games) - ranked 3rd, thrown at 10 / caught 5 (50%), TDs allowed 3, passes defended 4, YAC 67, QB rating throwing into his area 125.8 Keenan Lewis NO (2 games) - ranked 89th thrown at 15 / caught 10 (66.7%), TDs allowed 1, passes defended 1, YAC 69, QB rating throwing into his area 108 Looks like defending a pass trumps TDs allowed. So much in fact that Rob Alfred is #3 in rating but #1 in the most TDs allowed, and #4 in passes defended. One would think... Then you have Jason Varette for SD - ranked 6th thrown at 11 / caught 7(63.6%), TDs allowed 0, passes defended 1, YAC 11, QB rating throwing into his area 109.7 All of that said, no matter how you sort Robinson you better have fresh batteries in your mouse if you plan on scrolling to find his name. I took a closer look at all of the sorts and YAC is 4th worst in the league.. While his negatives are not horrible except for YAC he doesnt have any high points in areas that matter to lift him out of the basement. 3-4 defended passes and he is out of the cellar. |

It just sounds so ridiculous to place blame on the offense. |

Without a pass rush and a not so formidable D line the secondary with look worsr than it actually is
