Brees-to-Colston TD hook-up surpasses Unitas-to-Berry; and other notable facts from Sunday's game

When Drew Brees threw an 18-yard touchdown strike to Marques Colston in the fourth quarter Sunday, it marked the 64th time the two have connected for touchdowns. That moved them into 7th place all-time in NFL history, surpassing the Johnny Unitas/Raymond Berry tandem for the Baltimore Colts.

Some other stats and records from Sunday's game:
•The Saints did not commit a turnover in the game. The team is 26-0 under Sean Payton when playing games without a turnover.
•The next pass that Pierre Thomas catches will put him first among all running backs in Saints history. His 295th catch will break a tie with Reggie Bush.
•Brandin Cooks now has 18 receptions in his first three games. Only four other players in NFL history have had more through three games in their rookie seasons: Anquan Boldin (23), Earl Cooper (21), Sid Blanks (19) and Bush (19).
•For the 30th time in his career, Drew Brees completed at least 75 percent of his passes (27 of 35, 293 yards, two touchdowns, 120.3 QBR). The Saints are 26-4 when he is over that benchmark.
•Josh Hill's 34-yard touchdown catch in the first quarter was the greatest play of his career. Before that play, Hill's longest catch was 9 yards. He had another catch Sunday for 14 yards, and finished with a career-best 48 yards receiving.
•It was the first time the Saints did not allow a touchdown since a 41-0 shellacking of Tampa Bay in 2012.

First time not allowing a TD in 2 years. I like that stat. If we make everybody stick to field goals we can take it all.

He has had a rough couple of weeks to start the season, but...

Colston is what all Saints should be...

Typical example of someone who can do it all

Showed good speed and hands, tackled the Vikings returner at the 3 yard line on a punt, pretty good blocker also

Josh hill has earned more playing time.

Hill will be our 'secret' weapon for a little onger before he has a real breakout game. Would not be surprised to see a 100+yds game with 2 TDs from him this year.

64TDs between them is a fantastic stat. I bet they'll keep climbing that list.

For anyone who is curious, here is the rest of the list ahead of them:

1. Peyton Manning to Marvin Harrison - 112 TD's (1998-2008)
2. Steve Young to Jerry Rice - 85 TD's (1991-1999)
3. Dan Marino to Mark Clayton - 79 TD's (1983-1992)
4. Peyton Manning to Reggie Wayne - 67 TD's (2001-2010)
5. Jim Kelly to Andre Reed - 65 TD's (1986-1996)
6.. Drew Brees to Marques Colston - 64 TD's (2006-present)
7. Johnny Unitas to Raymond Berry - 63 TD's (1956-1967)

I don't know about the rest of ya'll, I know it's kinda old school, but I always get super pumped up whenever Drew breaks a Johnny Unitas record. That means you are among the best of the best, in any era of football.

Looks like there's a good chance they'll be up to number 4 by the end of the season.

Thanks for posting.

Amazing that not too long ago people were crapping all over Josh Hill.

He made the team as an UDFA rookie for a reason. We saw a glimpse of it yesterday.
