stanley Jean-Baptiste

He will in all likelihood be playing Sunday Night due to Patrick Robinson having an issue with his hamstring. Any predictions on how he will perform?

I think it will be Brian Dixon.

Re: stanley Jean-Baptiste

But if he does, he will get burned just like P Rob.

I'm rooting for Dixon. It would make my day if he was a stud #2 or #3.

Hasn't SJB been deactivated most weeks.

Corey White.

'nuff said....

Re: stanley Jean-Baptiste

How did we come to the agreement he will get burnt or is anywhere near as bad as Robinson and don't say because the coaches know best. Even if his coverage is anywhere near as bad as robinsons he's longer and more athletic which at least would give him a slight edge. We haven't seen this kid play a meaningful down yet and idk why coach is afraid to let his nuts hang and let him learn as white did. Tyrann learned well , Trufsnt learned well , White is a lot better than he'll ever get credit for , why not let the Sherman clone loose ?

Re: stanley Jean-Baptiste

I dont get the SJB hate....

The guy shows a lot of potential. He may have the best press man coverage skills on the team, he just needs to find that instinct of when to turn and make a play on the ball (this is the hardest thing to adapt to). SJB may end up being the best CB on the team, but we will wait and see.

This is just like all the Corey White hate last year, totally unjustified and now everyone talks about White like the savior...

Doesn't matter. Whoever is out there will get burnt unless we can generate some semblance of a pass rush.

Before someone says that he is a bust or wasted pick you better do a little research on 2014 rookie CBs and how are they performing.

Besides kyle fuller in Chicago who has something like 3 ints in 3 games, he looks good so far.

Yes, he is playing great. But he is early first round. On the other side Cleveland is benching Gilbert.

I'm not hating SJB he might become a great CB, but if Dixon is playing better Dixon should be over him. If SJB's light comes on then thats all the better for us, but I will say I have expected for his draft status he would be seeing some playing time, especially now but he hasn't so far. I also ask myself why would we try out 2 CB while we have him waiting in the wings the only thing that I could come up with is he's not ready. Raw projects take time look at JR.(UDFA), SJB(2nd round) big difference but still raw projects but if Dixon(UDFA) is more ready I'm all for it and if Dixon would become a shut down CB and keep SJB or Robinson or whoever challenged him for his spot off the field I would be fine with it, it's competition that makes things better, from 1st round picks through UDFA.

Right now, SJB is a liability. Maybe that's not his fault, he's just not ready for the NFL and won't be for a couple seasons IMO

True, and CB is one of the odd positions. Some come in and develop quickly, like Trufant and Alford for the lowlife Falcons, and some take quite a while, like our own Jabari Greer and Keenan Lewis did.

I think we all knew SJB would take quite a bit longer than normal to develop. He was raw coming out and it shows. Dixon may be more game-ready due to his experience at the position. He probably had a smaller learning curve.

Re: stanley Jean-Baptiste

I'd be for bringing Derek cox in, we were trying to sign him before we landed Keenan lewis

If anything he can add some depth to the position and he's showed he can be a good player in the right system

Thank you negative Norris. We really needed to hear that.

SJB's skillset is as starter or not at all. I'm not concerned about him not playing at all. I firmly believe he will be the starter next season opposite Lewis. The person I would like to see get some snaps now is Sunseri. He made some plays and was always around the ball in preseason. The Saints need SOMEBODY to make a play or two. It would make all the difference in the world.

Re: stanley Jean-Baptiste

I'm not bashing the SJB, in fact i wish he would be out there. Just from what we hear about him and seen from preseason, he just isn't ready. If he gets out there, every team will just go his way until he stands his ground.
The whole trend started out asking how will he preform. He's not ready yet, if he was we would have already seen him. Then we wouldn't be even talking about him being out on the grass.

They thought PRob was ready too...

I don't know if he(SJB) is ready or not, the coaches see something they like in him that's why he is on the 53 man roster. I would like to see the guy activated and PRob released, but that's just me.

I also want to see Powell get some love as well, but the coaches go with #91 for some reason. I don't get the hype on the guy, haven't seen him do anything... My point is there are always some personnel decisions that I don't get (Shanle, David, Fred Thomas in his later years, Ivory). I think our staff loves a good story and makes some odd decisions at times.

Well after tonight, he should be given a chance.

Even though Dixon gave up a TD tonight, he still had pretty decent coverage on the play. I'd like to see him get some more snaps as well...

91 is Edibali. He looked good in preseason. I'd like to see Powell too though. I think Powell is OLB and Edibali is DE. Anyway Powell's gotta be better than Haralson or Humber. I've been wanting to see Humber get a shot and tonight he didn't cut it from what I saw.

It's hard to tell anything about our LB's when they were having to play so close to the line to stop the run...D-Line is absolutely horrid for some reason, can't understand it; same players and coaches from last year and exact opposite pressure from last year...

Yeah, hard to see why. We've not been playing NT Jenkins as often, however. Maybe that's one reason we we're even worse at stopping the run, too.
