A glimmer of hope.
Now I know that a lot of us are down on our team right now, but it's important to remember that we could just as easily be 3-1 right now. Both Atlanta and Cleveland beat us on fluke plays with Atlanta hitting not one, but TWO 50+ yard field goals to defeat us and Cleveland converting a 4th down and 7.
The thing that gives me hope is what happened last season in Carolina. They were 1-3 and well on their way to landing in the basement of the NFC South and they rose up, got their defense straightened out, and ripped off a long string of wins to wind up with the number two seed. And our division completely sucks ballz! I mean Minnesota dropped a 40-burger on Atlanta. Minnesota!!! And Tampa Bay barely scratched out a win against the stupid Steelers. And don't even get me started on how awful a team the Panthers are right now. Worst in the league over the past two weeks! This week, we will crush the stupid Buccaneers. We will ANNIHILATE them! Carolina hosts a surprisingly good road team in the Bears while Atlanta has to travel to face the suddenly red-hot Giants. If somehow Carolina and the Falcons both lose, and we win, we will be tied for the division lead with a 2-3 record! Another reason for some optimism is how hard we are to defeat in the dome. If, by some chance, we are able to go undefeated again in the dome this season, and if we can just scratch out two wins on the road, that would give us a 10-6 record, which might even be enough to sew up a division title and a home playoff game. After that, anything is possible! So remember: 1. Our division absolutely sucks, therefore we can still win it. 2. We are ridiculously hard to defeat at home. We can still do this! We should be 3-1 right now! |
Re: A glimmer of hope.
Won't argue with you but you have to admit, we Saints fans now start shaking like French soldiers every time we have to attempt a FG beyond 20 yds and whenever the defense steps on the field.

Re: A glimmer of hope.
Saints, Atlanta and Carolina are 8-8 teams. Winning on the road is the key. For us it's game at Carolina.

The second part of the Panthers' recipe for winning the division from the cellar last year, was mainly that they won 8 games in a row and 4 of those were on the road. Do you think the current Saints can do that? Note: they haven't strung ANY back-to-back wins together in the last 12 straight games. But yes, like you said -- we are basically rooting for other teams to lose. That part could happen. That is the only real way to do it now. It's certainly possible. And if everybody in the division ends up 9-7 then we will need tiebreakers, because there will probably be other teams in the NFC with 10+ wins to fill up the wild cards. |
Re: A glimmer of hope.
BUT WE ARE NOT 3-1 we are exactly who we are and that is 1-3
WE should have never put ourselves in those positions to lose those games so they are in the loss column for a reason. THere is no sugar coating this 1-3 start sorry. |

Re: A glimmer of hope.
Think we Saints fans feel bad?
Pats fans must be shaking their heads and wondering what the hell happened on Monday night. Their team got totally hammered by KC, Brady was furious pacing up and down the sideline lol! What a strange season this is turning out to be already! GEAUX SAINTS!!!! |

Re: A glimmer of hope.
I still have high hopes. Rooting for 2-3 at the bye week, hopefully the wagen gets righted and end up at 12-4 (probably 11-5). Then all the fair-weather fans will come back. Not to step on toes but a lot of us are sounding like Atl-fans with all the hate. :)
