PFF: O-line Rankings

12. New Orleans Saints (11th last year)
PB: 26th, RB: 5th, PEN: 6th

Stud: The team has struggled up the gut with pressure, but has done a much better job on the edges. It’s gone unnoticed but second year tackle Terron Armstead is getting better.

Dud: For a long time Jahri Evans has been very good. But he’s had a couple of issues this year in pass protection, chiefly against Gerald McCoy who was really too good for him. Is this aspect of his game on the wane?

Summary: Much better going forward than going back, they’re betting at teeing off on defenders than trying to hold them in check. The problem has been that most of the pressure has come up the middle and that is making life harder than it needs to be for Drew Brees.

Jahri Evans has been great for years, but he's in his 9th year now and he has struggled in pass protection for most of the season

We need to get younger on the O line and find some studs just like we did when we found jahri and Carl nicks

Pass Blocking at 26th makes the most sense. Drew has been dropped 4 times in 218 pass attempts, but that pressure up the middle has been ridiculous at times. 31 DC's know you have to bring it up the middle, so Grubbs/Evans plus Lelito/Goodwin needs to get it done. Evans has back issues, and that just doesn't go away with magic. Need to be hunting for that stud Guard replacement in a hurry if Drew is gonna play until he's 45.

What I do love is the run blocking & the lack of penalties...that is a winning formula for a good offense on the road outdoors.

Also, did y'all notice the Bears O-line was #5 (up from 19th last year) with DLP grading 2nd best center in the NFL?

Aaron Kromer is just a stud of an O-Line Coach.

Right now they rank as ineffective in my book.

 Man, how come when we decide to cut them -- they suddenly become SB contending monsters? Super annoying.

DLP was quite often ranked in the top 2 or 3 centers while he was with the Saints. Including plenty of times last year when people were bagging on him instead of pointing the finger at Evans and Grubbs where it belonged.

Makes sense really. Because of The way Brees plays by stepping up in the pocket he has really been able to utilize pro bowl guards who are really Tailor made for his type of play. He hasn't had to worry to much about the edges because he had great blocking up front. Jahri was better when he had another pro bowl guard beside him. He is also getting old. I really don't think it matters too much how well Armistead plays as long as he gets the job done. Where we need it is at the guard position.

If that was the case DLP would have gotten a better offer from another team. FFS he almost didn't even get a contract offered to him, and the one he signed for the Bears was the minimum and intended for a backup role.

Every guy we let walk is just playing with a chip on their shoulder, let's talk next year when jenkins and DLP both regress to their normal selves. Hell we can talk in 1 month when Sproles gets hurt and misses the rest of the year.

Off topic but the only person i miss is Moore, and not for his play but for his TD dances.

Yep that is an unit issue for sure. big difference like they said is Bull rushes and sliding help side to side. last year it was stunts. i will take the bull rush issue over stunt pick ups any day. Drew has time to move.

Sliding help side to side is more of a gelling issue i think than anything else. that is the line moving as a unit.

we solved the left tackle position so now we need to stop playing musical chairs at center. that has cause this issue more than age to both our guards.

we need stability at center position big time.
