Reggie Bush Reunion in Detroit Immenent

1 Attachment(s)
It appears the Saints reunion with Reggie Bush will take place this week in Detroit.

Quote:

The Lions running back did not play in Sunday’s 17-3 win over the Minnesota Vikings because of a sprained ankle, but he told reporters Monday that he expects to take the field against New Orleans.

“Oh yeah, 100 percent,” Bush said, according to the Detroit Free Press. “Next week for sure.”

Didn't y'all have a "Reggie Bush reunion" when he played for the Dolphins?

Nope...this is the first time we face him. Trust me, I've been waiting for this game since we released him and not in a good way.

I wonder when he sees his old number on defense if he runs in the opposite direction... :broccoli:

I am. He'll get 60yds rushing and 50 receiving with one TD.

The real question is; do I start Cooks?

Definitely, Golden Turd was flat out scared of Rafael Bush last year, he flinched when rafael was running towards him and dropped a pass.

I'm really glad he's 100%...he can be one of the most electrifying players in the league when he is healthy. I want their best against our best, and I want to see if our defense can contain him. It'll be a great test, and it'll show where this defense is at on road games.

But I do want to contain him to less than 30 yards total, force a fumble or three, and win this thing running away with #21 being 100% healthy.

Oh crap! Good catch on Bell. Dude was a stud here during preseason and doing well with Detroit.

Actually, I'm more worried about Bell than I am Bush. Call me crazy.

Nah, you ain't crazy, ;) ... Bush is smoke & mirrors, Bell's the one that gets the carries when the ball absolutely, positively has to get there, :).

Lombardi's getting a lukewarm reception in Detroit thus far with the mediocre offense that's been on the field ... hope to see some of that magic he's been credited for as Brees' QB coach soon,.

I'm not sure, but this is what I found:

Lions taking “wait and see” approach with Calvin Johnson | ProFootballTalk

This Man of NFL WR Men on the field is a TD waiting to happen. If he is out there, our secondary has got to man-up. Actually, or D-Line and LB'ers need to man-up in pass rush. Stafford can't bomb it out to Megatron from his back. Although, I've seen Stafford make some unbelievable throws on the run...some for amazing TD's or some for stoopid, bone-headed INTs.

Detroit Lions could sit Calvin Johnson until Week 10 - NFL.com

Quote:

Johnson has been slowed by a high ankle sprain originally suffered in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers. Johnson was limited against the New York Jets the following week, then aggravated the injury while making his only catch of the game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 5.
Even if he does play, no way a high ankle sprain is healthy yet. Those damn things really linger...

if drew has time hell ya start him. but i fear the pass rush up the middle. both of the lions DT are playing for a new contract next year.

Re: Reggie Bush Reunion in Detroit Immenent

If those 2 DT's play like they should, Drew is gonna have it rough with the pressure up the middle. Mosley ain't that bad either in their DT rotation plus Ansah is very talented from the outside. We'll probably have to resort to keeping a RB/FB/TE in the backfield full-time to help out our interior O-Line.

Their D is pretty dang good. Holding Rodgers & Co. to 1 TD is kind of a big deal (it certainly killed my fantasy team that week, for sure). However, they've also played some pretty pedestrian offenses like NYJ, MIN, BUF, and the NY Eli's to be #1 in overall defense with 197 yards per game & 13.7 points per game allowed.

I am excited about this one, and I would not be shocked at all if this one is low scoring. Bush should be amped for this one and trying to make a statement. That could work in our favor...we've seen him far too often try too hard and make some real big mistakes. Can't wait!

Yes. With Calvin out there (even injured), it also opens it up for Tate, Bush/Bell, Ebron (though they don't target him enough!) and MattFord spreads the ball around a bit ... if Calvin is not in there, for some reason Staffie seems to have a hard time finding any of his offensive weapons, ie bone-headed INTs, :scratchhead:.

... and they are playing a bit "up" this year, :). Last week's performance vs the Vikes was a good example of what they can do and shoulda' been doing much more frequently the past several years, IMO. I can't remember the last time the Lions recorded 8 QB sacks in a game or Suh even got 2 in the same game.

Yep, but we all know this will be the best interior O/L Suh/Fairley have faced to date and will be the benchmark going forward ... Wheaties Up! :). Don't forget Ansah/Jones coming from the edges ... it's the first year I truly see our defensive ends benefiting from the push up the gut ... maybe it's more a reflection on the new talent at DE, IDK,.

It is "much improved", but there are still chinks in the armor ... Green Bay actually didn't appear to have much of a game plan going in to Detroit & I doubt the Lions will be able to repeat that performance in their second meeting. I've been preaching to the Lions Faithful, "Wait until Wk #7 ..." before they get too high on these guys. I mean, Kyle Orton made 'em look absolutely pedestrian ... Kyle Orton, for crissake,. I wanna' see Drew, Brady, Cutler & another round of Rodgers before they get the official "SloMotion Seal of Approval", ;).

That will be the focus of the game, IMO ... if the Lions D can handle Brees & Co. It's a given that Stafford can be rattled into mistakes, especially if Calvin is not in or 100%, and the O/L is a discombobulated mess, for some odd reason. Saints D, despite their woes, should put up a good showing in this one.

I'm anticipating this one as well ... if the Lions win, it could mean they're ready to start beating the next tier teams, albeit not a Saints team on the level as previous teams, eh?

DET 16 - NO 9 ... how's that for a low scorer, brother? ;)

I'm sure Reggie is looking for some payback after we disrespected him the way we did. I wonder is he still speaks to anyone in the Saints organization?

Nicely done...see what you did there. You thinking 2 TDs, 1 FG, and 1 Missed PAT for Detroit? What is blatantly wrong with your prediction is not the score but that we'd be able to make 3 FGs in 1 game with our kicker.

I never predict actual scores and I never pick who wins, so this game is won by a 4 point margin. Nobody scores more than 24.

Re: Reggie Bush Reunion in Detroit Immenent

I bet after all the kicking woes the lions have had, they will not miss one vs us and will probably hit a game winner

Teams never miss FG's against us.

This is what I seem to repeat every game, every time the kicker trots out there...regardless of distance. Man, it certainly does seem that way.

Well, sounds like Detroit's kicking game will finally get back on track in this one!,. If that's the case, then I wanna' change my prediction of 16pts comprised of 2TDs, 1FG and 1 missed PAT to being made up of 1TD & 3FG's ... besides, without Calvin, the Lions offense absolutely sputters,.

Straight from those dingle berries at PFT...I'm still sticking with my "nobody scores more than 24 and nobody wins by more than 4" formula:

Saints at Lions

MDS’s take: The Saints’ offense is good and their defense is bad. The Lions’ defense is good and their offense is bad. I’ll break the tie by going with home-field advantage, and that means the Lions.

MDS’s pick: Lions 23, Saints 20.

Florio’s take: The Lions have a great defense, but they haven’t faced an offense quite like the one the Saints have. Sure, Reggie Bush will want some revenge. But he can only do so much to match what the Saints will muster, with two weeks to rest and to prepare for a showdown with the team New Orleans manhandled less than three years ago in the playoffs.

Florio’s pick: Saints 34, Lions 27.

BREAK BREAK

Should be a great game...obviously an even better game if we can get that road monkey off our back. It's a vicious little creature.

Yep, glad to see they're on board (especially Florio,) with what we've basically been saying all week, ... but it should be a good game if the Lions can manage to play four quarters at home and not just the customary two quarters they're used to playing vs the Saints. Honestly, I can't see the Lions scoring 27, 23 points as their offense has really only been putting up 7, 14 points as of late vs some pretty suspect opponents, ... and I don't see the whole Reggie Bush "revenge" angle ... he's actually a pretty nice guy, IMO,.

Well, then, we need to get paid to analyze games like they do. :p

And I have nothing against Bush whatsoever. He came here after Katrina and embraced the city and this area. Some of us (including myself) were disappointed he was not the second coming of Gale Sayers, which is unfair to Reggie.

But he did a lot of great things here with some pretty good teams from 2006 until he became a Fin and he brought excitement to a team, city & Gulf Coast area that desperately needed it at the time...at least that's my take on it.

Yeah, I tell ya' ... going back two/three years ... I swear I'd read threads on here and then see similar opinions expressed in the media a day or two later ... at first you think it's the guys on the boards keying off the media guys, but then you scratch your head, check the dates & start thinking the media guys are pulling material off the message boards, ... at least Black & Gold, IDK about some of the other ones, ;).

And yeah, I don't mean you guys & the Bush revenge-angle, I mean the media boneheads, :) ... and I think he got that east/west thing figured out in Miami ... heck, so far in Detroit, I think I've really only seen him head for the sidelines two/three times & two of them were for pretty good runs, :).
