Drew Brees says he let Saints down

Drew Brees says he let Saints down - NFL Nation Blog - ESPN

Sign of a true leader:
Payton upset with officiating: Payton was clearly upset with some of the calls in the game. He was seen yelling at officials and admitted afterward, "I wasn't happy with how the game was officiated, but I'll leave it at that." He quickly added that's not why the Saints lost.

But you are gonna get on my ass in my INT thread about that? Telling us to go be Atlanta fans and such. You had to hear it from HIS mouth before you believed it happened I guess.

No, I am saying that cause he a true leader he want to bear the blame or deflect the attention his way instead of coming down on the team as a whole, like the coaching staff or even certain players,,,, I think if he wasn't getting paid high dollars like the rest of the elite qb's people wouldn't be so quick to point fingers at him,,,,next target gonna be graham or Gallete and soon will be cam jordan

Oh by the way, I still blame the officials for the lost

Yes he did let the team down. Detroit just pinned their ears back after the int. It's on him.

That's your opinion, I bet his teammate don't feel that way

see there I will point to the OL getting beat like a bunch of cheerleaders out there. The lions are elite up front. If they want to play with the big boys they need to put their pomp pomp down.

last 5 minutes of that game the lions own us.

yep the refs did sell them a few things along the way

yep in the end they beat us like a school yard bully up front.

yep Drew should know better.

yep that was a beat down all across the board in the end

yep offense defense and coaching :pissed:

Nope the season is not over just yet :bng:

He's not solely responsible for the loss, but his error was reckless, rookie(ish) and something we've seen several times in the past. Can't really seem to recall ever seeing manning or brady throwing turd-balls like that. Like I've said, good teams when those games and bad teams lose them.

Manning threw it to Tracy porter, Brady threw interception to mike Mckenzie. One did it in the Super Bowl the other one in a 38 -17 beat down by the saints in the dome.

Read this if you don't believe officials stole this game:

The Saints were flagged 12 times for 134 yards, including several pass-interference calls that killed drives or aided Detroit.

Saints coach Sean Payton: 'I wasn't happy with how that game was officiated' | NOLA.com

Marques Colston was flagged for offensive pass interference late in the third quarter on third-and-5 after Pierre Thomas made a catch to secure the first down. The Saints didn't convert on third down and punted.

That block by Lelito. Was it illegal? I don't know with these rules anymore...

I think Drew is the best QB we've ever whiffed in the history of our franchise. That said, it should NEVER come down to his error losing games. He seriously does get paid a lot and because of that, the stakes are that much higher. Not like we gave him some deal-io and he's playing just from his heart as a good guy - we paid the man and continue to pay him.

I also think Drew played a much better game today then he has all season. Generally, instead of forcing plays or forcing the ball, he simply grounded it. It made a huge difference. But his lone costly INT was simply spy'd by a defensive back who jumped it. As a team, players and coaching, we did a really poor job managing the last 5 minutes of the game. Even our 4th down call at the very end of the game stunk!

Drew should hang his head, but keep up the improvement. I actually feel a lot more hopeful for this team after this close lose then I did after most games this year, even the wins. Still sucks to lose and I feel like poop.

Much rather Drew ground the ball like he did today than force it.:bng:

You are not alone... I was thinking the same thing after that flag.

Please, someone enlighten us on the ruling for that one.

Its not illegal. I remember McCray laying that same lick on Warner and it was totally legal.

They called it a blindside block, I didn't see anything "blind" about it. I thought he came from the side and shoulder to shouldered him. I don't even remember it being that hard of a hit, nothing like the McCray run through of Warner...

Re: Drew Brees says he let Saints down

The McCray/Warner hit was in a different era (i.e. pre-concussion lawsuits). We are currently in the era where the defenses are simply neutered by personal foul calls.

The Lelito hit, though, happened to be a hit by an O-lineman on a defenseless defender (???).

Oh, and of course we're now in the era where the Lions are destined for greatness & the Saints are destined for a dumpster-fire season, according to the conspiracy theorists.

Those refs don't even know what is legal a couple of weeks ago eagles qb was hit just like that and the nflpa said it was legal and it won't be a fine or suspension
Chris Baker was ejected for hit that doesn’t violate the rules | ProFootballTalk

It was one of the garbage calls by the refs on both sides of the ball yesterday. Officiating was awful and changed the pace and shape of the game on both sides of the ball. This was just one terrible call.
