Sean Payton tell reporter to be quiet.

Saints head coach Sean Payton wasn't really in the mood to entertain the media on Sunday following a close loss to the Lions. From asking for the next "smart question," to telling an interrupting reporter to "be quiet," this had it all.

Each passing week, I think we've hit bottom.

When's the last time you saw SP this frustrated?

Correction - that was Sal Paolantonio. Here's what was said about ol Sal:

Quote:

NOBODY ASKED ME, BUT: After the Lions lost Sean Payton got more than testy with ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio in his postgame presser as Sal repeatedly pressed Payton on why he threw the ball on its possession leading up to Brees’ pick instead of playing it safe and running the ball and in the process running the clock?

First off, the Saints couldn’t run the ball effectively all game totaling a mere 73 yards on the ground. Secondly, New Orleans took over with 3:38 left on the clock which was plenty of time for the home team to counter——the Saints needed to pass to get a first down and kill more time.

I remember last year Payton was in a similar situation with the Patriots and ran the ball without being effective only to give Tom Brady and company ample time to put together a game winning drive.

Sal was out of line interrupting Payton a few times when he was answering another question and it seemed to me he was trying to grand stand a little. I’m all for asking a tough question but this was different, it seemed Paolantonio crossed the line and as a result was called out by the Head Saint. Most of the time, I will defend my media brethren but this was one of the few exceptions.

Here's the thing, here's the thing.

I have never heard Payton stutter on his responses. There is a very angry man there.

ESPN guys. lol

I'm glad he told him to STFU.

Sean couldn't have been no more than 15 minutes removed from a tough CLOSE loss and then having to step up to the podium and answer questions about the int/refs etc.

Its only human nature for Payton to be visibly upset.

Hey Payton, if you don't want the fire the start winning. I have no problem with SP being criticized for his play calling. I have been on the Carmichael bandwagon since 2011.

Anyone remember Bountygate??

I think it's probably a good idea that ESPN "so called" reporters stay away from Payton's podium. I mean, their tabloid reporting as a direct mouth piece for the NFL league, and Roger Goodell cost him a couple million dollars. I simply would not answer their questions at all.

No doubt there would be pressure coming from above.

There were high expectations this year and this game was pretty much make or break.

Sean is just not the coach we have been giving him the credit of being, IMO.
We are being beaten by inferior teams.

I agree with blackangold as time goes by I think more and more about putting the Ihop menu into Pete's hands.

I don't rate SP much anymore to be honest

No huddle was working amazing, that all of sudden stopped the next drive
We have arguably the fastest receiver in the NFL, we do not run any deep routes with him, just ****ing screens all day.

I still think he is still the best Saint coach we have ever had. He just can't figure out how to eat this sh*! sandwich. The team has been consistently inconsistent in all aspects so far. When the game is tight and you have to move the ball, do you try to run the ball when it hasn't worked all day, or you try to put the game in the best chances hands. I say he didn't have a choice on how to play the last few possessions.
Brees just can't move the ball though running for for his life.

Agreed he is by far the best HC we have had here. Think about it we haven't been complaining much about him up till now.

Re: Sean Payton tell reporter to be quiet.

Im sorry but there is not another coach I would rather have. I remember being the only team in the NFL to not win a playoff game. I remember going 3 - 13 and being laughed at for being a Saint fan. Hell even one and two win seasons. I still know we will win the division I just hope we can get it together enough to win games on the road because I doubt any playoff game will be at home this year.

He does appear to have lost a little bit of that sideline fury.

But in his defense, a play or two here and there by our grossly underachieving defense, which he doesn't control, and we're 5-1 or 4-2 at worst.

But he is the leader of the team, not just the leader of our offense, so he bears the responsibility to fix it regardless of which side of the ball its on.

Oh this is going to get good... we have a history with coaches going a bit bat crazy when it unravels on them... PLAYOFFS!?!?!?

Here ya go, I got some questions for coach Payton. Hey coach, why don't you run the ball more especially with the lead in the 3rd qtr? Hey coach, why don't you run the ball more? Oh, and coach, why don't you run the ball more? Maybe if we keep asking the question it might sink in. Dumb arse

I have some advice for Sean Payton -- win the game -- then tell the sh*theads to STFU. Then, everybody is happy. :broccoli: Most importantly you, the team and the fans.

That's why you're a fan. Everything starts with Sean Payton. Carmichael learned from Sean Payton. Payton did "Ambush" to start the second half of a SUPERBOWL. Ride that bandwagon all you want but Payton is a Head Coach for real.

Well, the coach doesn't give up 73 yard plays on 3rd and 20, not throw interceptions...

So... wevs.

What were they getting v Detroit at one stage? !. xx yards per run. 21 or so i total by the 3rd quarter.

Fine to demand more bash ball, but it needs to work. Drew stacked 300+ passing yards and the 20 second 80 yard drive in the 3rd suggests they had the capacity to get it done in the air.
