Operation: Feed Drew

1 Attachment(s)
The Advocate has an interesting story about Safety Kenny Vacarro mentioning a new defensive mindset he and defensive teammates will "intensify their focus on what he dubbed “Operation: Feed Drew.”" The focus is "creating takeaways that set up the Saints offense in enemy territory."

Quote:

“We have to keep taking those,” Vaccaro said Wednesday. “The more chances he (Drew Brees) gets to score the ball, the better chance we have at winning.”

The Saints have a paltry four takeaways this season. Only Jacksonville (1-6) and Washington (2-5) have fewer than that.

How about just focusing on not sucking. The turnovers will come.

So they will try and focus on creating more turnovers

Remember what happened last time? We missed 26 tackles in the entire game trying to strip the ball.

Oh, boy. Every time I hear about creating turnovers, the very next game we tackle like ****!

I sure do bro. It was horrible. How about a three and out for the defense?

Shouldn't they learn from White trying to get turnover and 74yards later.......

Just brought up puke remembering that play

Corey white does more boneheaded stuff year after year

Like fumbling through the end zone on a pick 6 last year.

Yea on the Tate TD, White had safety help over the top and short zone responsibilities. He was in better position than Tate when the ball was thrown. Zero ball skills. Unacceptable.

Even in short zone coverage, he could have tackled tate for an 8 yard gain, 4th down we get the ball back.

Instead he tries to make a play on the ball with no idea where tate had gone, completely screws it up, then to make matters worse Vaccaro missed like his 5th tackle of the game to spring tate free.

It's a skill set which we don't have!

We haven't had it since Sharper and Vilma left.

I think Vaccaro has played better the last couple games. PFF only has him missing one tackle last week. Probably that one.

When you're on the bottom you can only go up right?

I'll take some defensive 3 and outs coupled with some offensive clock management "TOP".

I was the one saying we need takeaways....but, nevermind.

Actual tackling is now Job 1 for our D. One step forward, three back.

Pretty sure our offense got 10 points off those two turnovers our D forced?

Didn't we get a TD off of the Lewis pick? I think we did, but can't remember

We ain't on the bottom yet. We can still get worse, believe it or not.

28th points/game (27.5)
21st yards/game (373.7)
28th pass yards/game (270.5)
11th rush yards/game (103.2)
30th (Tied) forced turnovers (4)

Those ranks are staggeringly different than last year, but we continue to be effective against the run.

If we get worse in run defense: "turn out the lights...the party's over".

My guess is because we now rank 30th in takeaways, and before the Lions game we were dead last in the entire NFL and on pace for the fewest takeaways in any sport known to mankind throughout the entire history of the world?

Surprising that we are that good against the run...

I was referring to Vaccaro's play. He only missed one tackle against Detroit.

Gotcha, I'm tracking. Thought it was about the entire defense. Dang meds :dunce:

As far as our defense goes, I chose to think of them as the best defense in the division.
