New Orleans Saints announced as part of one of the NFL’s 10 best rivalries right now

Took them long enough to realize it!

This may look a little ugly this season, but the reality is that their rematch in the Superdome will probably determine the NFC South, as hard as that is to believe. In recent years, both teams have enjoyed a commanding home-field advantage, making a win in the other team’s place difficult to come by. And both boast big-name quarterbacks, which make them the class of the division on a year-in, year-out basis.

No doubt that some of those games have an epic history and some great ones have faded away... Dallas/Redskins?

Would've thought Steelers-Ravens would be no. 1.

FF I thought the exact same thing when I saw Dallas-Philly on the list.

'bout time the Saints-Falcons gets some respect on the rivalry. Even when we were both doormats year in and year out our games were usually down to the wire nail biters.

Incredibly bad as #9 - PLEASE!

Atlanta was the first deep south team in the NFL New Orleans a close second. Both cities had to go through similar "concessions" to land a team, yet there has never been any "love" between the two neighbors - they are as different as the two sides of a coin. Both are two sides of the coin that is Dixie. Atlanta, struggles to be a corporate Yankee wannabe shedding all culture and identity to be the worst mess of suburban sprawl to ever sit atop a slab of concrete.

New Orleans has maintained her beauty style and culture. She is everything that Atlanta is not. The two battle for the sould of the deep south. It is a cultural as well as football rivalry.

When we played each other in our first season it WAS a big deal. The Dixie Bowl. It was HUGE and has been ever since. The two deep south teams - playing in New Orleans - we won - and the rivalry has been as tough as ANY in the NFL. I would say more so - but I am biased.

At the time it did not get the national attention because the deep south was such a small market. I suspect the neglect of this all important rivalry is based on the residual effects of that fact.

It seems to me that the national media did not pay attention to these two perpetual losers until the Gleason blocked punt. Even then they acted like it was a recent phenomenon.

We were (Finally) placed in the same division at the merger where we have been ever since. it has almost always been an incredible game regardless of who is favored - or what the record of either team is.

I have seen them play many times in both stadiums - as well as the old Atlanta Fulton Co Stadium. Any one who has ever seen the two play in any stadium can feel the fan rivalry. Placing the Rivalry at number 9 is absurd and yet another shining example of the lack of respect the Saints get.

I don't think it's so much about lack of respect as it is about East Coast, Big City bias on the media's part.

IDK, to me rivalries are more of a regional thing. In no particular order:

-Saints/Failclowns
-Giants/Cowgurlz
-Cowgurlz/Redskins
-Packers/Bears (or any NFC North matchup)
-Steelers/Ravens
-Chiefs/Raiders
... that's about it for NFL rivalries, IMO ... hard to come up with 10,.

If I Was The NFL Schedule Maker, I'd Have Rivalry Weekend And Flex-Feature The Best Teams For The Sunday Night Game...

Anyways, These Are The Best Rivalries in the National Football League...

Bears vs Packers - Oldest Rivalry in NFL With Some Real Fierce Hatred And Dirty Play You Don't See Today

Steelers vs Ravens - This evolved from the Old Browns vs Steelers Rivalry and is probably the most intense rivalry today...

Redskins vs Cowboys - Throw out records when these guys play, Best Moment Was This Commercial And If You Knew Anything About Tom Landry and His Character Then You Could Truly Appreciate It...

Falcons vs Saints - Fans Really Get Out And Travel For This One (Or, They Sit In Ambush With Eggs) And Though Coach Payton Has Mostly "Owned" Them During His Tenure, Falcons Still Lead All-Time Head-to-Head; Needs Some Championships To Catch Up To The Aforementioned Rivalries But It's Had Some Amazing Moments...

Honorable Mention

Oakland Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs - Sadly, Not What It Use To Be; These Teams Actually Drafted, Built Teams To Counter One Another...

New England Patriots vs New York Jets - Regretfully, Jets Have Become Oakland East Despite Featured Matchups...

49ers vs Rams - This Rivalry Should Return When Rams Return to L.A., Now If They Could Check The Gang Crack At The Door...

Eagles vs Giants - Nasty Treatment By Both Fans, Amazingly Games Fly Under The Radar
