Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
1 Attachment(s)
New Orleans Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro couldn't sleep Saturday night.
Vaccaro watched game film like a man obsessed, going through every contest in the 2013 and 2014 season. He wanted to remind himself of what the defense was last season, and what it has the potential to be now. Vaccaro's frustration bubbled over following a 27-10 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. He is just one of many in the Saints' locker room searching for answers. Saints defensive coordinator Rob Ryan hasn't been able to find them. He has pored over every aspect of his coaching. He stays later than almost anyone at the team's facility. Sometimes he sleeps there. But the answers haven't come. "I feel bad for Rob. We let him down," Vaccaro said. read more on NOLA |

say what? this is his mess since the bye week of last year for the love of good. he maybe the greatest drinking buddy in the world but he has done a poor job for over 16 games now since that bye week. |

Rob needs to go back to that 4 safety set from last season

We looked pretty darn bad. I just don't see any heart out there. Watching our guys get back to the line; all could hear was Chris Berman, "Tick, Tick TICK, TICK TICK". Poor effort and execution the entire game.

Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
Giving up more than half the field on a single play two weeks in a row is unacceptable. One cost us the game, the other was flat out shameful. I don't know where this team is heading other than a top 5 pick at this point. It looked worse than a Saints Ditka team.

Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
Getting sick of predictable Payton and Rob Ryan
I wouldn't lose sleep if we fired both at the end of the season, drastic changes are needed Not one of them even cared we were getting beat down yesterday |
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
Predictable. I'd say that's accurate.
There's definitely a defensive scheme that limits Brees's effectiveness. |
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
He better come up with something. FAST!

Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
OPPONENTS GAME PLAN VS SAINTS (for the rest of the year)
1. Line up on offense 2. Where's #24? Which receiver is opposite him? 3. Throw it to THAT GUY 4. Repeat steps 1-3 |
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
They should feel bad. They straight up suck. Look I did not expect them to pick up where they left off last year. Going from worst ever to 4th just doesn't happen in one year. I did however expect them to be middle of the pack in most of their numbers. Turnovers and Qb pressure are what I wanted to see an improvement in.
We got worse. |
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
We got worse due to a myriad of reasons.
Attrition Sloppy play Coaching Injuries Now what are they going to do about it? Because as bad as it's been, we're still not out of it. |

I think that injuries once again derailed Rob Ryan......it's Dallas all over again. Unfortunately, the result will be the same. Although, he did say he won't be unemployed long after a team fires him. You've gotta' love that attitude. Seriously, though the talent level just isn't there this year. I knew we'd miss Harper. Danno and I have both been on his band wagon since day one. He was a good SS! It's Jenkins that surprises me with how well he is doing in another system. We just don't know how to develop players........or draft them for that matter. Maybe Bush is better than when we brought him in. Although, he's on IR now and is unavailable so it's a moot point. To be an effective defense we need shut down corners and our only one is playing hobbled when he can play. Sean Paytons first move as coach when he came here was to start bringing in CB's......and after all that time he's still looking. Dammit! :brood: From the beginning he's been hit or miss at the CB position...... but mostly miss though. Once again, Payton doesn't seem to evaluate and draft young defensive players as well as he does FA's. We need to daft a good young WR'er. Oh wait, we also need a DL, LB'ers and maybe a safety. btw: Who Dat!:bng: |
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
I honestly don't think Payton pays much attention to college football and may be a SEC hater idk. Clearly that conference has all the talent. He has to quit going after Pac 12 players or Big Ten ones. The reason Jenkins is playing well is because he is surrounded by other talented players and good personnell and conditioning. Also, I think there's a lack of heart due to their bubble emotional being burst by SF over the years.

Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
What's most disturbing, other than the play of our D in general, is the fact that RR is sleeping there and his D still sucks. He may continue to be a 2-3 season coach.
|
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
My frustration with the D is on 1st down runs and 3rd and long. Big difference between 2nd & 8 and 2nd & 4 with 1st down runs. This crap of giving up a 1st down on 3rd & 7 or more yards has gotten very old.
Still convinced we need a block-eating NT for this "kinda-sorta" 3-4 defense we run. It exposes our MLBs and/or safeties for those gash run plays because our NT gets blasted out of the running lanes. Can't maintain gap integrity across the D-line front when that happens and that's when we see Lofton/Hawthorne/Humber/KVac dragging down RBs from behind 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. Happens much too often than it should with a decent NT in the game. |
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
Maybe Rob's crazily complex defense schemes aren't going to work. Last year he ran a pretty vanilla scheme that played into the players he had available. Maybe he needs to pare it back and focus on fundamentals again.

Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
Damn, man, can we please have Arizona's defense? Whoa. Scary.
|
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
Oddly enough our defense does well in all situations but 3rd and long...

go ask any cowgirls fan and the story line is way to familiar. Especially in the fourth quarter. Lack of adjustments on the fly and well just out right crappy play calling by rob is to blame. |

Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
How can the defense look good when their on the field most of the games, because we turn over the ball at key moments and offense is unable to stay on the field for more than 30 yards, lol . Offense has given at least 3 games away.
This offense would choke on a Tic tac |
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
Frustration boils over. Ok, so what ya going to do about it.
|
Re: Frustration boils over for New Orleans Saints defenders after second straight loss
Frustration boils over "hmm boil" let's head to the chow hall and talk it over. It appears that Coach Ryan is good at that maybe they got a good
craw-fish boil going on there. |
