Saints promote rookie Lawrence Virgil from practice squad

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound Virgil spent training camp with the Saints this summer and registered an 11-yard sack in an exhibition but was left off the roster at the conclusion of the preseason. The Saints (4-7) signed him to their 10-man practice squad, where he’s remained all year.

If there was a time a gift was sent down from the heavens to turn this season around it has to be now or our season is destroyed!!

'Closer to my dreams'

Saints lineman Lawrence Virgil: 'Closer to my dreams' after earning roster spot | NOLA.com

I hope we get to see him play. he is one of those players with workout warrior type of numbers. more muscle than flab. suit him up lets see what we got. He might turn into a nightmare for a few lumbering OL.

6'5 290 doesn't sound like a NT. Move hicks in and let Virgil play end.

I know its that 38 reps on the bench I want see. will it translate to the field? if it does that is worth 30 pounds of fat right there. he looks to be timed out as quick one also.

I always like to see if they can do it out side of the gym.

Watch this guy come in and ball out!!!

Hate to say it but sometimes injuries are good for a team because you find the diamond in the rough.

Let him play. I'd piss on a spark plug if I thought it would help...

Bring up Andy Tanner as well. We could use his form of HUSTLE on offense.

He is, and hustle isn't the problem.

We rarely play a 3-4 set so I suspect he'll be used more as a DT during our 4-2-5 sets.

Re: Saints promote rookie Lawrence Virgil from practice squad

if he can at least show enough to add depth as a back up DE and a DT it would be huge. NT on passing downs? 3rd and forever? sure line him at NT. not like the NT gets any rush what so ever anyways in a three man rush as it is.

Can we get Kasim Edebali more playing time?!?

That guy has showed some remarkable speed...

Have y'all seen how he's coming opposite end of the field to catch some of those running back gashes?!?

High Motor. Great Burst. We've got as good as Galette now and he's under a rookie contract...

Saints scouts do a good job finding under the radar ufda rookies,I think therefore they should let the scouts pick our draft after round two is over,This team can not draft busts like this years 126 th linebacker bust,

I'm sure he's just insurance in case Walker, Jenkins or Deaderick get injured. If those 3 stay healthy he'll stay inactive but ready to go if necessary.

Maybe he'll beef up after a year in an NFL conditioning and weight program. He is kind of light in the arse isn't he?

We can use all the big bodies we have. Bunkley being out means Hicks will play the nose more, or at least will be getting double-teamed a lot more. I think the D-line is finally getting into shape at just the right time. Cam, Hicks and Walker all played pretty well against the Steelers.

I have noticed his hustle too. seen him run across the field to chase down ballcarriers from behind. He's raw but effort like that is contageous. Reminds me of JJ Watt(in effort)
