Saints have expressed interest in Ray Rice

1 Attachment(s)
The New Orleans Saints are one of four teams that have expressed interest in newly reinstated running back Ray Rice, ESPN reported on Sunday morning.

The level of the Saints interest is unknown, however, an update to the report said the Saints will not pursue him.

The Indianapolis Colts have also inquired about Rice.

Sign him to a two year deal where he can compete next year when Ingram is gone.

Re: Saints have expressed interest in Ray Rice

I was one of the fans that initially didn't want Rice on the team, but Robinson has been out for at least a month.

Ingram and PT are both banged up. Cadet is taking up a roster spot. I don't remember any reports about Rice being a problem when he was with the Ravens.

I know it will be a PR nightmare for the Saints, or any team that signs him, but the Saints would have a Duece McAllister style RB.

Get rid of some of the deadwood and lets sign a player that has some fire in his belly!

was already in decline and now is a PR nightmare

where is the source that says we are interested?

For all we know Ingram wont be back next year, Robinson has to prove he can be the man and as much as I love PT father time will catch up sooner or later.

League minimum and he is worth a look

I hope the latter is true.

if you have served the time and get released, i say go for it. short leash and all. not often a player like ray comes available. see whats left in the tank. he would be a nice fit to this offense.

if it works out Ingram can not hold us hostage in the off season

No way. This is ridiculous. I'd rather not have hundreds of people protesting outside the stadium. This would be a nightmare.

Why would you pay that much money for a RB who will be 28 years old next year, and on the decline? Get a kid just out of college with fresh legs at a better price.

I think he might be had cheap to be honest. the owners have ray right were they want him. in the cheap seats.

Bargain basements shopping.

Is that why our roster is stocked with underperforming talent, some of which is over-compensated and overpriced?

Rice will end up with the Raiders can't imagine the Saints dealing with such a hot potato. I think Shockey was about as far out on the limb as
Mickey and Coach will go.

This may be one of those deals where a fan may have to just hold their noses and realize it's the business end of the league. Goodell probably coulda' got away with suspending him for a season, but noooooooo, Roger's gotta' play 'king' and suspend the guy for life, http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/fo...ilies/nono.gif.

Lets just wait for Adrian Peterson.

Honestly I feel thats why we struggle against big physical downright mean teams. We don't have a lot of players if any that want to play angry. It has its drawbacks like aldon smith for instance, but those types of players are necessary on defense.

No. This would not be good.

We don't need a team full of boyscouts. We need football players. Mean ones.

Not with the way Ingram was running today.

They said the same about Darren Sharper...look how that helped

I can't believe some sports analysts have stated that they don't think we'll resign Ingram. We'd be stupid not to.

It's because we can't afford him

SP shot down the reports in the post game press conference saying;

"I think I'd have some idea of what players we were trying to sign and he's not one of them"

SP & Mickey = perfect marriage bc they each know their roles: SP selects players, Loomis figures out if we can pay them

If we were actually going to bring him in, we would do it right now.
Shelve KR and pro-rate Rice. We have the money, and he is better that KR at this point, right? The thing is, we're not going to do it.

Saw a report on the ticker during game today saying saints aren't interested in Rice.

Re: Saints have expressed interest in Ray Rice

A new team can rejuvenate a player. I just don't know if we are that team. Maybe this experience has humbled him a bit and he may be wanting to prove he still has it.
As for Ingram I believe we will keep him. Some of his problems are because of the OL. He had 118 yds. against the Steelers.

Re: Saints have expressed interest in Ray Rice

Ingram needs 233 yards from the next 4 games to be the first saint to rush for 1000 since Deuce
