Pitiful excuse of a NFL team today....

At least it was an honest assessment of the team. First time he hasn't been passing out kool-aid after the loss.

Looked like he had been crying. Can't say I blame him!

I liked the way Payton handled himself.

Had to be an all-time low in his professional career.

I, for one, believe he'll do what it takes to field the best team possible this or next season.

Tough decisions ahead for sure.

This 2014 Saints team is simply not very good from top to bottom. Those who think otherwise are kidding themselves.

I hope he kicks everyone's ass in practice this week. And can someone take away Jr's twitter account and wire his damn mouth shut?

TC in Greenbrier. What is that contract like? 2-3 more years? That f**** decision was beyond stupid.

Hopefully by the end of next season we can have a good laugh about this season & say never again.

It's crystal clear...no one's job is safe.

ok let us see what happens from today on. changes need to start now. but in no way do you start gutting the team. IMO that was the biggest issue starting the season. veteran players that gave this team an identity were cut or trade and left a huge void in the locker room.

SP under valued the impact Sproles had on this tea. Cook was not the answer nor will he ever. he is just not that type of player. Bet Darren is thanking god he was traded now.

Rob did the most damage. hands down the number one reason this team went into the crapper. I accepted some of the moves on the DL and expected them. But the gutting of the secondary at the same time left me puzzled. then add in some draft picks and i give him the brunt of the blame.

No i still do not buy into it is all the director of personnel is to blame.:argue:;)

Rob laid the ground work. Sold the plan and now we are left with the bill to pay.

So gutting this team would only be a huge mistake at this time. It will only make matters worse.

This is worse than I ever remember. This organization worked hard to set a standard that we had never achieved before. For that they get a pretty long leash to fix this. We have ended up with a roster of old and young who simply aren't getting it done. I hope someone is made an example of today.

Only in hindsight can we say multiple moves have hurt us but these are what I think our biggest problems are

Giving a loud mouth one trick pony a big contract - Galette
Expecting Hawthorne and Lofton to be the answers at LB - they are not
Not addressing CB #2 in free agency or draft and signing a 37 year old thinking he'd win the job.
Starting Goodwin over Lelito - bad move
Paying Jimmy Graham an insane amount of money to watch him drop passes and be a decoy
Signing Jairus Byrd to an insane amount of money and getting 1 turnover from him, and watch him constantly be out of position
SP thinking the same plays year after year are going to catch people off guard, everybody has seen the screen plays we run millions of times.
Drafting a "raw CB" in the second round who's played 1 year at the position simply because he's tall.
Having camp in cushy green brier where the players could relax
Not one player on our team shows any heart to make a tackle.

Add to the list as you see fit.

hindsight i had when the moves were made . seen this happen before. I agree with you almost 100%. any debating would be silly since they are all minor points.

lets lump these together. I understood the pick and why they made it but I never would have reach on SJB in the second. way to much talent left on the board. But it is what it is.

Harper Jenkins and a few million dollars for Byrd. huge price to pay without a doubt. Did not like the use of cap but like the player.

fits just fine

Without a doubt CB is a huge hole all year.

Now lets add in Kenny to the equation as our 2013 1st round Pick at 15.Kenny is a Roman Harper clone with better hands. not that much better but better non the less. Yet another project that we all hope is just in a sophomore slump but is a project as a true SS

Byrd has the skills. But does not have the supporting cast he once had. Knock the bills all you want but they always put a solid defense on the field.

So how do you save face with the signing of the million dollar Byrd man, spending a 1st round pick on a SS that is a work in progress and then adding in a 2nd round pick at CB that can not see the field despite having a secondary gutted by injuries?

Suck it up ! Add at least two CB to this mix. FA and/or draft. that have proven skills to cover man on man. they are out there this year.

ILB and/or OLB that can cover. I would like both both. But after the last few LB my hopes are slim on getting it done in the draft. So LB should be our #1 FA target for the off season. Someone with Haralson skills set to start opposite of him on run downs. JR is on the field way to much. Haralson is our best all around LB. I wonder if he can play ILB?

anyways if we are to save face for the moves we have made and make this work. This is the only thing i can see that will have the biggest impact right out of the gate in 2015.

we can ill afford another draft filled with what ifs.

so we can add the drafting mistakes on defense too i guess or did we say that?
