Dead Money is the guaranteed, Example: Drew Brews signed a 5 year 100,000,000 million contract; 40 guaranteed... After this year, we will still owe him 14,800,000 of the guaranteed, so say you cut him after this year, you still have to pay him the 14 million... |

Raiders haven't had anybody to pay for over ten years! :ROFLMAO:

Re: Salary Cap Crisis Looming in 2015
Being a cap manager doesn't make you a general manager...
We still have one more year with Cam Jordan as we have the extra year option on him as a former first round pick... As the pass rush from Galette is non-existent, I don't see why we should be extending/retaining him... |
Re: Salary Cap Crisis Looming in 2015
A group of UDFA's at G, LB, CB and S can just as easily go 5-8. I guarantee they they will put out more effort and be more fun to watch.

Re: Salary Cap Crisis Looming in 2015
We've been through this before, this season. I forget which thread but it was pointed out that a couple of reasonable restructures, a couple of cuts and we shave over 20 million off the cap in the blink of an eye.

Next year should tell you all you need to know about what's happening this year.

Re: Salary Cap Crisis Looming in 2015
We have several restructure candidates, and Loomis always fights for every nickel. We cut Graham to save a half million, and presto, he's back at a lower wage.
If Brees pulls a Brady in regards to salary, this discussion is over in 5 seconds. I am more concerned about the 8 losses and counting than the offseason. |
Re: Salary Cap Crisis Looming in 2015
most of the 2014 Saints won't be here in 2015, and those that have potential for additional professional years aren't going to put their future earnings on the line for this abortion of a year. Even if Brees does restructure, there is a huge amount of cap tied into a few players. Teams that don't screw up are the ones that don't overpay for marginal talent. We have too much of that.
Let's see what this team looks like in two years, as it is blowing up now. Next season will likely be as bad as this one. |
