Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
Some could be looking for jobs sooner than later.
''I don't rule out any changes with regard to who we're asking to do what we're asking them to do,'' Payton said Monday after reviewing video of Sunday's 41-10 loss to Carolina. ''Guys understand, hey, this is serious. It's their profession. It's our profession. It's going to be our job and the leaders of this team to lead. This is exactly when you find out who your guys are,'' Payton added. ''If it's not happening ... then we're going to look at other options.'' http://sports.yahoo.com/news/payton-...6448--nfl.html |

Whatever it takes to shake it up we are down to our last chance.

Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
''I know what it looks like when a team is ready,'' Strief said, adding that he didn't see that Sunday. ''I don't think it's guys walking in like, 'I don't care.' ... I think it's not realizing how up you have to be for every game to be successful.''
bingo. that is what we lost with all the cuts we did last year. vets that know and keeping team mates focused. I guess we now know who the true leaders were on defense. to all you cut happy people think long and hard on this one |
Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
After 13 dismal performances, SP is now putting the team on notice. 10 more times and he will put a mark in his book.

Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
Is KV getting it now? I sure hope we see a different team on Monday. Intensity, focus and discipline would be nice.
Maybe Sean will kick some ass this week. |
Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
That doesn't sound like a coach who is leaving the franchise.

Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
(continued)... "now, here are our changes next week. EVERYONE, and I mean everyone will wear NFL Long Johns in Chicago. And receivers, you will have sticky numbers so that you have an extra moment to wrap your minds around catching a pass once it hits you in the numbers."
"Ingram, there will be no changes for you. You'll still be getting the ball EVERY first and second down to keep things simple. OH, and we will NOT go into the hurry-up offense unless we're down by at least thirty..." "I understand that change is challenging. Especially when we're so used to sucking like we have... but embrace the change and HOPE for a better outcome." "Now... DO YOUR JOB... and we will magically win." |

''If it's not happening ... then we're going to look at other options.'' Ok... that sounds good and authoritative, but what options exactly is he talking about? Are there players waiting in the wing somewhere that I don't know about that can replace this horrible O-line and at least 9 of the inept starters on defense? Replacing suck with sucks more isn't going to solve anything. I wish I knew what he means by "options" at this point in the season. Or is he talking about next season? |
Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
I truly think Kenny Vaccaro need to be bench. P Rob earn his spot back now KV need to earn his. SP talking bout opponent players running freely, he could only be referring to KV. He out of position so often its crazy, if he playing man to man he play to loose to spy if it's a zone he play out of position and leave huge gaps he can't recover from & to top it off he is missing to many tackles to be the last line of the defense.
He need to focus more on ripping the ball out on tackles instead of reading articles that defense has less interceptions than any other team & do his job 1st before looking over his shoulder to help out teammates |
Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
Bench galette and let Powell work into the rotation
Absolutely nothing to lose and the experience could be valuable. |
Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
More meaningless coach speak.

Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
hopefully there was a mirror close by when Sean went on his tirade

Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
The way this team and this year is going, I would not be at all surprised if Goodwin and/or Junior, suddenly appears on the IR list without any fanfare. If I opened up the morning paper and read that, I really wouldn't bat an eye. It'd basically be a face-saving alternative to benching them.

4-3 scheme. Jordan, Jenkins, Hicks, Foster. New LOLB, Lofton, new ROLB. Lewis, new RCB, Sunseri, Byrd. Let Vaccaro float.

Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
I think a 3-4 defense is still the way to go but it's absolutely necessary that we land a guy like Vic Beasley or Benardrick McKinney in the first round of the draft because they can play inside and out.
|
Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
We still run a 4-3 quite often. Maybe we don't have the players for a 3-4......if so then go get them in free agency or in the draft.

Don't make me turn this car around! We'll go home! I'm not kidding!! Payton to Loomis, "Put these players on "Double Secret Probation!"

Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
If Vacarro is the last line of defense and he's ALWAYS missing open field tackles why is it that hes in that position so often you got a running back who ran through 7-9 players untouched for whatever reason makes Vacarro miss worse safety but if he has alot of mssed tackles our lb corp has to be right behind him our defense as a WHOLE does what Vacarro does All other ten players have been out of place My question is why him why not Hawthorne Hicks Cam Junior Corey Jimmy Colston

He is not a 3-4 LB, which is probably the reason we currently don't run a 3-4. Hicks and Jordan are perfect 3-4 DE's (on paper) but both have underachieved greatly this year. Currently I think our best combo is a 4-3 with Jordan, Jenkins, Hicks and Galette on the D-line and Haralson, Lofton and Hawthorne at LB. Obviously there are a few upgrades necessary in the offseasson to run either scheme optimally. |
Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
On defense...
Start Jordan, Jenkins, Walker rotating Hicks to spell the starters... Release or Bench Galette - now that would be a notice... In fact, go to the 34 now and play... Haralson/Powell, Humber, Lofton/Knox, Edebali... They'd be hungry and they'd play a helluva lot harder than the "guaranteed" contracts we currently have a linebacker... |
Re: Payton puts Saints on notice after lopsided loss
With losses like the Carolina game, everyone in the organization not named Benson, Brees and Morestead should think about working on their resumes.

Not making excuses, you throw the blanket on the whole defense for their performance, but then you do have to look at each individual part before you can fix it. Plus, Vaccaro's got a lot of potential. Sometimes those are the guys you gotta' mess with the most to get 'em to realize it. Could be SP is just making sure he's got KV's attention, IDK.. |
