After kicker tryouts, New Orleans Saints sticking with Shayne Graham

Graham is 18-20 on FGs and 37-38 on extra points; I doubt that Graham is in danger of being cut. Probably some of Payton's Jedi-mind tricks!

The New Orleans Saints declined to offer contracts to any of the kickers who went through tryouts on Wednesday, according to an NFL source, meaning veteran Shayne Graham will hold on to his job for now.

Doubt that trying out kickers strikes fear in the hearts of other players..

Shows that Payton is not just playing chin music.

Then why not try out O lineman and D lineman and Tight Ends and Linebackers?

it won't. and that's fine because the talent isn't there and we have 3 games left.

Nice guy and all but I don't have much confidence in him. I would like to see us upgrade and have more distance as well.

Because those positions have pretty much been picked clean this late in the season; I doubt there are players at those positions who could even make the practice squad...

but just because there are kickers available doesn't mean that getting a new one will do anything for us

Champ Bailey, Greer, Vilma, Josh Freeman, Tim Tebow, Charles Godfrey and Michael Sam and a slew of others are all available also... not saying they would help, but neither will a new kicker

I feel it's a little late in the season to be making "job threats". Unless he is telling them they won't be on the team next year. This somehow seems like eyewash to me. I could be wrong in my way of looking at this.

Now, I'm a Marques Colston fan as well as a Saints fan...

That said, those drops - I'd leave him inactive for a game...

Same with Grubbs or Goodwin or yes, even Evans...

Also, let's not kid ourselves, it's become apparent in recent weeks by way of Twitter that Junior Galette is not worth the money nor the twitter headaches he causes, why not play the guy that is showing the only hustle in the fourth quarter the past few weeks?!?

Kasim Edebali...

Yes, he's inexperienced and yes he needs to refine his skills, but this is part of the learning process and it's time we accelerate his and hasten JG overpaid, specialist act...

That's the message I'd like to see sent...

As much as we knock Galette he's coming off a 12 sack season. He leads the NFL in QB hurries this year. The guy doesn't suck.

Overpaid? This year, yes. But not for what he's given the team in previous years.

A bit of a *****? Maybe. But a good coach can turn that around.

I wonder if he, like Brees, is trying to overcome an ineffective line.

Well if we're so convinced that "sending a message" is the way to motivate....,

I always hate to watch a FG or a extra point. At this point they might as well go for it on 4th. What can it hurt they are always down by a lot anyway.

Graham is the least of our worries.

I think as the offense goes, he goes. In other words, I haven't really seen Graham put the offense on his back. If the O is down - so is his performance.
