VIC FANGIO
Now that the 49ers staff is blowing up wouldn't mind bringing Vic Fangio
back and sending Rob Ryan to another City. |
Re: VIC FANGIO
Let's hope SP thinks like that aswell
They've had a top 10 D for like 6 years straight now |
Re: VIC FANGIO
Didn't we try to interview Ed Donatell(secondary) for the then vacant coordinator spot, Harbaugh blocked the attempt though?
|
Re: VIC FANGIO
Donatell to me looks like John Carney and I think we did try to talk with him. With Harbaugh gone now he won't be blocking anybody anymore at least for the 9ers. Would love to see even a similar trace of the Dome Patrol.

I thought we were after Jim Tomsula

Re: VIC FANGIO
Even if we get Fangio as long as Vitt, McGriff, and Johnson are there the same results with Ryan I believe will still take place. We need to blow up the whole defensive coaching staff and bring in whom ever the new coordinator wants.

I agree but he ever wants major improvement on the defense, then he should fire his cronies.
|
Re: VIC FANGIO
I think we should let Ryan bring in his own coordinators.

49ers have / had for a while now alot of talent. We don't. Would he even wont to come here with the lack of talent we have? If I am a top Defensive coach I look elsewhere.
|
Re: VIC FANGIO
right now SP is in a unique hiring spot. a lot of our super bowl ass coaches are going to be out on the open market.

You give Rob Ryan Scheiße and expect him to mould it into brick wall?!? He needed that third round pick for a linebacker... He needs to build his own staff... And he needs to get rid of that joke of a linebackers coach, Joe Vitt and his little junior too... |
Re: VIC FANGIO
Well whatever SP and Loomis cook up it needs to start with the staff and end with smart new player choices. I can only think that our shopping list is long.

Re: VIC FANGIO
IIRC didn't the 49ers have about 5 or 6 years of top draft picks and continue to get numerous comp picks?

Certain team refuse to pay players so get additional picks which with the additional picks allows more vets to leave giving yhrw more picks. Its a joke. If you have a comp pick in the 3/4 and pick late like Ravens and 49ers do then trade the pick for a higher pick the following year and keep the cycle going. It also lets the 49ers to continue picking injured players to IR them a year as its a free pick. |

Re: VIC FANGIO
I'm not sure Ryan is able to coordinate a defense with sustainable success. New Orleans is his fourth attempt, and there's enough evidence to believe he is what he is. Ryan runs exotic schemes and because of that, he can often get success and even shut down top offenses. His problems are these: 1. If he suffers injuries on the defensive side, new players have trouble coming in and learning all the exotic looks and schemes. This leads to confusion and big plays being given up. The years his defenses have played well, they had health.
2. His crazy schemes also require players to be very versatile. If an offense can figure him out, they can exploit it when he tries to send a d-lineman into coverage or use corners and safeties to play the run. 3. Ryan is more a motivator and relies on his position coaches to do the teaching. His players love to play for him, but often his defensive players show inconsistent technique. Also, because players are asked to do multiple jobs, they often do not get enough reps in technique. 4. Schemes can often be too complicated for players not willing to put in the time. All this leads me to believe that relying on Ryan to run a defense is playing with poison. It could work out, but it also could produce atrocious results as it did this season. |
Re: VIC FANGIO
He might even bring Patrick Willis with him. They have Bowman and Borland and Willis' cap hit goes up five million dollars as compared to last year. Can you imagine Willis and Lofton on the same field? We could play 3-2-6 or 4-2-5 every single down.
|
Re: VIC FANGIO
Slow down for a minute. Even if the 49ers let Willis go (they won't), the amount he would get on the open market would exceed anything the Saints would have to offer in cap space.
|
Re: VIC FANGIO
Ahmad Brooks aka Brees killer will be on the market as well. This guy is still a big time play maker and is an upgrade over any LB on our roster.

Re: VIC FANGIO
STOP WASTING TIME AND SIGN THEM

Re: VIC FANGIO
Any suggestions on how to pay them? We already have cap issues!
|
Re: VIC FANGIO
The Cap issues will probably doom us again I'm afraid!
|
Re: VIC FANGIO
Call the froont office and suggest this, wouldn't mind bringing Vic Fangio
