Where Does The 2014 Team Rank in Saints History Suckage?
Lets be real. Suckage is a big part of our history. I remember the days whenever you would encounter random Saints fans, the conversation often turned to "What was the saddest game you ever saw?"
Is this the worst Saints team in franchise history? Or could you say this is the most disappointing one? I know you're going to say we have the best QB. Well, in the Bag Head Days, we had Archie Manning, who was a great QB, and the team sucked over all. The '84 Team, when Ken Stabler took over for Richard Todd was most disappointing, especially considering our badass Bum Phillips defense. The '96 team with Jim Everett QB and Mario Bates RB was, to me, the most heartless team I'd seen. We still had some Jim Mora influenced defensive talent, and I loved Tyrone Hughes, a walking bolt of lightning. But the team overall played with the passion of the Pyro tech at a Dan Fogelberg concert. (old reference) I did miss the 1-15 '80 season, as I was still with the Oilers then But Ill stick it out. This was the most heartless, gutless Saints team I've ever seen. If you cant get up and catch fire for the Atlanta Falcons in your own house, with our crowd, for the division, for revenge, and for New Orleans, you dont belong in football. Its time to seek employment in the area of your college "degree," insurance, communications, philosophy, basket weaving, whatever. You are not worthy to be on the Superdome turf, if you let Atlanta come in and punk you in your house, in this situation. I'd be happy to see 43 of these guys gone next year, and any of the coaches, or front office people who happen to fall. Wouldnt bother me. They're all infected. Im the world's biggest apologist for players, and I'm one of the few fans who think of every man on the field as someone's son, dad, husband, brother. Nothing pisses me more than some fat loser from his couch flaming a guy, because his knee is shredded like a chicken bone, and he cannot play a game, where other guys are trying to knock him unconscious, as if that guy CHOSE to be injured, or somehow fails, because he is made of flesh. But this was the Falcons. It is painful to type this: swept. The great John Riggins (Redskins) once quit football, after a loss to Dallas. |

Definitely the most disappointing and underacheiving. Most gutless goes to Haslett's 2001 and 2002 squads.

Also 89 most frustrating... Like this season...we were not terrible. No, just the oposite - like this team... with Herbert and Hilliard; Mills, Swilling, Jackson, and Johnson but just could not quit imploding much like this team. WHAT THE HELL was the problem in 2014? |

I can remember between 20-25 Saints teams that sucked more in my memory. This team doesn't even come close.

But, a team with this much talent and coaches that we know can get the job done, fails this hard. It's a bitter pill to swallow. But, in a franchise that was pretty much built on a foundation of suckitude, this season is hardly the worst, or the most disappointing. |
