Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

What a nice touch

Colston hit in stride and doesn't immediately go down.

With his salary cap are we seeing Marques' last score?

I love his demeanor, class and leaving it on the field

He has been slowing for a while
But always comes up with some key catches

I wear my #12 proudly

His cap number is a problem. I'm hoping they can restructure. He is aging gracefully, but, aging none the less.

No way they can reduce it low enough to reach they're salary cap goal

Colston will be back if he accepts a pay cut.

Lord I hope not. Toon is at best a #3 wr. Colston will be back probably at around 4 million. He knows no one else will pay him that much if we cut him.

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

Toon is a #3.

In two years he could be a #2.

If Brees stays, Colston stays. Restructure #9, you keep #12.

He will be back. If you have skins on the wall around here you stay until the bitter end. Loyal to a fault.

He'll retire a saint.

Audiotom 12-28-2014 06:43 PM

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

Yes but will he retire this offseason or in a few years?

A cap expansion and huge Brees paycut along with some other (yes you Junior)

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

We get under the cap easy
Colston will restructure as will Brees.
Cam agrees a long term deal dropping his cap hit and Junior contract is changed from a roster bonus to signing bonus. A few other take cuts/restructres etc and they team is well under the cap. The big changes come in 2016

Will Loomis be loyal? Will Drew take a haircut on his salary when mediocre quarterbacks are making similar money?

Seems he could live off commercials alone

Drew won't take a cut, merely a shift in payments.

Hope he stays, salary is problematic, probably need to look at a $$, hell there's several guys that should look at taking a pay adjustment. We have one of, if not the most accurate QB of all time that can't throw a pass more than 40 yds without a bounce, making a jillion dollars. A TE thats hurt and shows up every other week, making a wheel barrow load of cash, etc…sorry for the rant, I like Colston, hope he stays.

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

Had an absolute terrible year, but if he's willing to take a pay cut and a reduced role I'd want him back. He's not effective against starting corners anymore which limits him to the slot.

WillSaints81 12-28-2014 10:47 PM

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

If he stays it could hurt Drew more. Drew is not going to move on from constantly targeting Colston until Colston isn't on the field. He's attached to him, like with Graham and to me, thats a concern.

Yes we need a wideout, but we need OL and ILB first.

Not even on a good day. Colston will be back with a restructure (he admitted his own disappointment with his season) and a lot to prove.

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

Colston has been a class act and a consumate professional his entire career. Everyone, including him, recognizes that his cap number cannot allow that. He will likely get restructured or cut a re-signed for an acceptable amount. He can still be helpful to this team on and off the field and needs to remain a Saint and retire a Saint.

I think after this season... ANYONE with a high price tag is expendable.

Start trading these guys off already.

9 million ? It will have to cut to 2 mill. Only way he returns. Be weird without him. Who else is brees going to throw to in triple coverage.

That's because Brees trust Colston to be where he is supposed to be. Which is something that takes time.

There aren't any OBJ, Evans, or the likes in this draft except for Cooper and he has already said he doesn't like N.O...

So give me a healthy Graham, Colston, Stills, and Cooks...draft interior O line help and sign a capable veteran and the Offense will be better. Even with all the drops we weren't the worst in the league.

I think he will be back, he will drop in the depth chart though

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

ever player in the nfl knows there is little or no chance to get the last few years of deal. that is why so much is front loaded. especially if their up in age.

I see both signing a new deal and bring them into line cap wise. none of the new deals signed in the past few years had the guarantees these two have gotten and they know it.

Foot Stomper 12-29-2014 03:46 PM

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

Time to move on. If roster spots and cap space were unlimited then sure we could be the old folks home for these guys but it is a young mans game. And FWIW I don't trust Toon. I had hoped to see some of the young guys yesterday but it was the old folks show. Heck even Mechem played. We have Stills and Cooks. After that I don't know who or what we have but hope it is someone new.

Don't know for sure if he's caught his last pass for us, but I'm pretty sure he's caught his last pass at his current salary regardless.

I'm going to say this as politely as I can.........Colston has never been a Reggie Wayne. And it does not matter what Cooper says, he has no say in who drafts him. And there are good receivers in this draft, just not as many. We need to sign one in FA. What happens if the receivers get hurt again? What ailing issue will Graham have next? Sigh, I hope Brees can play well with no true elite receiver next year I'm just scratching my head on the receivers dropping passes. Colston has been inconsistent since 2011. Graham better engage in a boodybuilding program to be as good as Gronk this offseason.

I agree we have bigger needs but I'm tired of hoping for luck more than making our luck.

I don't even think we should be mentioning the words 'wide receiver' until that O line is addressed.

Re: Has Colston caught his last td as a Saint?

He will be back. He has always be a team first, quiet storm kind of guy. If they want him he will be there. Even if it means him taking a pay cut.
