We have two challenges this offseason

Atlanta shaking up their organization.

Carolina thinking that they are "weapons" away from winning a SB. No question Carolina will be looking for receivers this offseason. Carolina is probably now the new sexy team in the division. We have lost that title and have for quite some time now.

Need to get the job done in the business season.

Carolina sucks, they just happened to suck less than we did this year.

They over-achieved, we under-achieved.

We'll win the South by 3 games next year, I guarantee it.

Carolina is a lot further away from being a contender than that. They need receivers, new running backs, a new offensive line and have you seen their crappy secondary? Their issue is they have so much money tied up in bad contracts they can't afford to do very much for the next couple years.

Get the OL stout, and I mean stout by cutting, trading, dealing... whatever...do it. If we can throw and run at will not many teams can keep up. The fix for the defense is hold training camp here and let them suffer and compete in the La heat with everybody screen tested. If you don't come to play then your spot can be taken by anyone at anytime.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the season we expected to have this year will happen next year. If we just get a legitimate #2 CB and shore up the interior of that O-Line combined with the massive chip that will be on everyone's shoulder and there ya go!

If it were not for hope, the heart would break.

However do not anxiously hope for that which is not yet come;
do not vainly regret what is already past.

Re: We have two challenges this offseason

ok kool aid drinkers get away from the punch bowl already.

Caolina Suxs?
they have built a front 7 to stop the saints. secondary away from a completed project. The offense is much futher along than anyone thought

Atlanta Suxs?
close to a completed project on offense to have a shoot out with the saints. thank god their defense has kept pace with the saints. moon walking

Tampa suxs?
Do not under estimate Lovie and the team he inherited. the front 7 there was built to stop the saints. they are not that far off the pace and now they get a QB.

Saints? are at the super bowl kool aid still. steady decline since that day. the day is coming if it has not arrived already when we will be in complete rebuild mode. and a string of wins will not get us into the playoffs. much less a playoff run

besides this is the NFC South records do not mean a thing when these teams take to the field.

Re: We have two challenges this offseason

I would add a third challenge to this list, which is to stop living in the past.

"We always own Atlanta Falcons" -- oh really, we have split with them 3-3 in the last six games and just got swept by them.

"Carolina is not any good and we own them too" - oh really, they are back to back division winners and are 4-2 against the Saints in the last 6 games. They just creamed and stomped all over Atlanta, and remember Atlanta beat us by double digits....

"Tampa Bay always sucks" - oh really, they are a TWO WIN TEAM and it took the Saints OVERTIME to beat them AT HOME, and a 4th quarter miracle with the Bucs purposefully tanking, for us to beat them the other day.

Sweep up the confetti and the champagne glasses -- XLIV was five years ago now, and a new winner is crowned every year.... The statue of Benson holding the Lombardi needs to be moved to the lower level of the parking garage, and the Super Bowl nostalgia needs to be packed away into the memory chest, until they get this team back under control.

And to stop assuming we WILL win the division next year regardless.
Just where the hell is that belief coming from? I hope you guys do not play the stock market.

kool-aid? Punch bowl?

Were any of these teams any better than the Saints this year? We won 7 games, Carolina won 7 and tied 1. That's the only thing that made them better than us. We carved up Carolina's front 7 at their place this year and went down to the wire with the Falcons elite offense. None of these teams are any better than any of the others, but we are in a better position talent-wise than all of them. That's not living in the past, that's just the truth.

I'm not going to say "oh we'll definitely win the south next year" but there's no reason to discount us either. We still have by far the better roster and the most accomplished coaching staff of all these four teams. Our issues are focus and maturity.

The funny thing is I have no idea what's gonna happen next year. I see both sides of the argument. With this team right now,I just don't know...

If there is only two challenges this off season, then it must be

Defensive Line and Offensive Line

Agree with everything SaintsBro except putting the statue of TB and the Lombardi in the garage. That may be our only moment of glory in my lifetime and I waited a very long time to get it.

If your guarantee is valid what do we get if we win by 2 games :)

We thought we were "weapons" away from winning a super bowl. I'll put Carolina very simply. Cam Newton isn't the answer at QB especially with that OL. They have exactly 1 wide receiver and greg olsen who is good. Their secondary is trash, but have a good front 7. They're not going anywhere soon.

Yall better leave Carolina alone. We know what a running QB and a Dominant defense can do.

They Beat Arizona easy , If they Stump Dallas , They'll beat Seattle , That defense is Nastier than seattles

Don't think CAR needs weapons but if they think so great. They need O-line and DB help almost worse than we do. Also, not sure how your sexy if your 7-8-1.
