Robert Meachem, who now calls New Orleans home, hopes trust earns him another stint with Saints

Unless he signs for Saints-friendly/vet's minimum salary I don't think Saints re-sign him.

Wide receiver Robert Meachem grew up in Oklahoma and went to college at Tennessee, but he now makes his home in New Orleans, where he's played for six of his seven NFL seasons.

So it goes without saying that he would love to return to the New Orleans Saints in 2015. He just doesn't know whether it will happen.

"When you sign a one-year deal, there's always uncertainty," Meachem said. "You just hope it was enough to sway them to bring you back, or whatever else the Lord has planned for you.

"Yes, I would love to be here. But you can't control what you can't control. You just have to leave it in the good Lord's hands, and at the end of the day, he'll put you in the place you need to be in anyway."

Sure, throw him in the mix. Why not? If someone beats him out, then great

He'll always be just a phone call away. Who knows how quickly the young guys will develop so I'm sure Payton and Brees will welcome him back if we need him.

Toon has passed him. The only way he sticks around is if Colston leaves, and even then he's still only the #4 and maybe #5 depending on who else we bring in.

He's cheap, reliable, experienced.
Why not?

I would be surprised if that happens. Thanks for the memories Meach.

They'll probably have him in training camp. Maybe he has the strong, veteran presence that the team needs and will stick around for that reason?

I am ready for a bunch of new young bloods. Roster spots are too few and we have had too many hanger owners as it is. If he makes the roster next year I think it will be another failure by our personnel team.

+1. Gotta stay with the youth movement.

He is good at the run block.... But it seems drew doesn't look his way when he is passing

We've tried that, but RM keeps sticking. Let's remember that Toon was a healthy inactive for 9 games.

I think Toon has some what turned a corner and has shown flashes to become a competent WR. He will be more involved in the offense for 2015.

You are probably right. I hope so anyway.
So far Toon's 3-year career path has been high expectations, injuries, and little production. Kind of reminds me of...wait for it...
Meachem.

Weird to think Meachem led our team in TD's in 2009 with 10

Also weird to think that the chargers thought he was a legit #1 receiver

If one or two of the wide receivers on the PS have developed it will be a competitive camp.

Thats what could make him stick around Another year or two. Same way it happened with Henderson.
