Saints Sign RB Tim Hightower

1 Attachment(s)
Injured for the last 2 seasons, probably a longshot for our 53.

Saints signed RB Tim Hightower to a reserve/future contract.

Hightower, 29 in May, tore his left ACL in 2011 and has been out of the league since. He's had a workout here and there, but an infection in his knee derailed his comeback. Hightower was medically cleared just last spring. He'll spend the offseason with the Saints and try to earn a spot in a backfield that could lose both Mark Ingram (free agent) and Pierre Thomas (potential cap casualty)

He's only 28, and IF (big IF) he's fully healed he can pound the rock.

Diversion, we're either going after C J Spiller, Shane Vereen, Darren McFadden or a running back in the first three rounds...

Re: Saints Sign RB Tim Hightower

PT will count 2.5 mill vs the cap next year, with 830,000 dead if we cut him. Seems worth the extra 1.7 to keep him around

Darn tootin'...

The draft is stacked with'em, too. We could get a pretty danged good one in the mid-to-late rounds.

Or as an UDFA (*cough, cough* Pierre Thomas, C. Ivory, K. Robinson)...

Darren McFadden = made of glass

Re: Saints Sign RB Tim Hightower

I remember when he ripped off that 75 yard run against us in the divisional playoff game against the Cardinals 5 years ago. That's all I know about him though.

Not impressed really ... to put pressure on Ingram perhaps. Give me OL, DL, LB, DB's. We have RB's if we choose to pay them.

I want Reggie Bush back.

Good pass catcher and decent off-tackle runner but that was a few years ago. I doubt he's anything more than camp fodder.

If we sign Spiller or McFaggen I will find another team to pull for. They suck and stay injuried.

We need a running back first?

I reckon somebody that didn't see other running backs running through the middle of our defense.

He's a camp body with experience. Not the first nor last RB we'll sign this off season.

Tim Hightower was great at one point. I still want Ingram back, and bring in from UConn Huskie RB Jordan Todman Jax RB 25

Re: Saints Sign RB Tim Hightower

Low risk high reward. He's had two years to fully heal and he's only 28. If he returns to his early form, it's a hit. If not it costs us absolutely zero.

We are always kicking the tires. That's fine..........we do well with retreads.

Doesn't matter who we sign if the O line isn't better.

Re: Saints Sign RB Tim Hightower

I hope we give Kenny Hilliard a look. He probably won't be drafted. A very similar runner to Jeremy Hill. More power less speed. I know I'm an LSU homer but the results work for me. No LSU players on the roster. PooPoo season.

I think we were a top five rated run blocking oline

This is true. It all starts with the five guys up front.

Doesn't matter if our O-line gets better if we continue to field a defense near dead last in every relevant category.
