This isn't good news at all. Galette will still count 16 million to the cap if he is cut and even if the NFL suspends, while he doesn't get paid, cap charges remain constant.

The base salary for 2015 is guaranteed. The only thing the roster bonus means in the terms of this contract is he gets it paid up front rather than as a weekly pay check.

I've read the other discussions of roster bonuses in this thread- and those are the way it is when the salary isn't guaranteed. In Galette's case his entire 2015 salary is GUARANTEED. 1.25 is salary and 12.5 is roster bonus paid on March 12. But either way, he is a 16 million cap hit if cut.

And while the Saints will save the money if he's suspended for 6 games (min under new policy), his cap charges remain the same.
