Brees named to Pro Bowl squad
 

Drew Brees is replacing Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger on the ProBowl roster. The Pro Bowl will be held in Arizona -- the host site of Super Bowl XLIX.

Brees surpasses former Saints Pro Football Hall of Fame tackle William Roaf (7) with the most selections in franchise history.

It is Brees’ seventh consecutive selection, dating back to the 2008 season, tying him with Roaf for the most consecutive Pro Bowl selections in team records.

Brees is in his 14thNFL season and ninth with the Saints.

In 2014, he started all 16 games for the fifth consecutive season and completed 456-of-659 passes (69.2 percent) for 4,952 yards with 33 touchdown passes and a 97.0 passer rating.

Most voters just look at the stats and not the games.
He led the league in yards with 4,952. 33 TDs to 17 INTs and a 97,0 QB rating is a pretty good season if you just look at that.

Most voters(fans) don't even look at the stats, just vote for their favorite players... Pro-Bowl = nothing more than a popularity contest these days

In a bad year for Brees he still threw almost 5000 yards, 33 TD, 97 passer rating and made the Pro Bowl. I remember when we would've lost our minds to have a QB with those numbers. Now we just gripe.

I'm not sure is that because Brees is a highly recognized name. It's got more to do with the teams that are winning when it comes to qbs because they see highlights of qbs making game winning plays on winning teams. When it comes to other positions well its not so much about winning teams. Only qbs on winning teams make pro bowl in voting.

Brees's stats alone should have gotten him into the pro bowl. Makes no sense.

T-1 for passing yards, I think he is 2nd with completion percentage behind Room, 33TDs... Those are some good numbers

More pressure vs a 4 man rush than most? That's a problem.

Throw out the # of INT's this season and look how well he performed with an extra second or 2 to throw.

God help whatever team Brees is on if Jimmy Graham was on there too

The defense would have 11 guys on Jimmy and Brees would just pump fake twice and throw it straight into coverage.

He didn't make the pro-bowl because he was perceived as being mediocre due to the teams problems.

I still don't think any saints should be in the pro-bowl this year.

I agree, nola54, saw it today what it used to be like then what happened this year; to me its totally the offense in decline or to injury to main parts; to the voting public its the fantasy stats. brees used to sit back there and pick anyone that shed his man and put fear in a defensive backs mind, please don't look my way drew, it used to be master in command brees now its knocking the krap out of the pinatas drew.:argue:
