Marques Colston willing to take a pay cut to stay with New Orleans Saints

Bleacher Report NFL Insider Jason Cole reported that veteran wide receiver Marques Colston would be willing to take a pay cut to stay with the Saints. Cole said Colston would accept a small, mild cut, but if the pay cut is significant, he "may" go.

I hope he doesn't insult the Saints by asking for too much considering he was in the top tier of drops. Great player, one of the best for us, but the ride is close to over.

Colston is one of my favorite Saints of All Time...
Fiery Competitor without the Prima Donna Bullshinski... My concern is his healthy, namely that arthritic foot/ankle or a Payton would say "Leg" injury and if the pain is affecting his play... We all know the drops last season were totally uncharacteristic of him... Did notice on a few plays he was unable to run away from defenders, much less keep running, despite having a step on said defender... I'd love to have him retire a Saint and be in the Saints WR corps next season, but WTH is going on with that "lower leg" ailment?!? That is the real question... |

For the record, I want MC back. I think something personal was going on last season. He is too good of a pro to drop as many balls as he did last year and besides that he still has value and can help this club win games.

Cutting bait now is the thing to do. He was a shell of his former this season and there ain't no fountain of youth. Great Saint. Great guy. Simply not worth the salary at this point of his career.

he is an aging vet that has paid his dues and cashed in for them. pay cut is over due as we all know
Issue at hand 1) we have turned over the WR corp so much can you ill afford to let yet another vet go with all the puppies running around on the field? 2) LEADERSHIP. granted he is more of the lead by example type and not the loud mouth raw raw type but a leader non the less. we found out we lost almost all of that last year in locker room so dare we give the inmates even more control? restructure and/or extend it to make it cap friendly. Just do not take yet another leader off this team plus our WR corp is still one of the most over rated groups in the NFL and has been for years. there is no one ready to step in right now. |

Magnanimous to say he'll take the pay cut, but wasn't that already obvious?
We hold the cards on this one: he has more value in our system, and the going rate for a 32 year old with 60 catches and a more than a handful of drops can't be more than 4-5 million |

ive dogged him this year for the drops and its not him I agree something else was happening in his life, I hope he takes the cut to stay's here and have a who u saids old year. love the man hes a real pro.

He'll turn 32 in June. 34-35 is when the big drop off really happens generally. I want to keep him around.
