Tom & Gayle Benson have an uphill battle...

First, Benson has to come up with equal value of the Saints and Pelicans which sit in the trust for Renee, Rita and Ryan before he can "redirect who's going to end up with the Saints, Pelicans"; he stuck a promissary note of nothing near what the respective franchises are worth...Fail

Second, the NFL has already approved the transference of power plan for the Saints for Rita to take over; that's not something that Benson can easily undo and he hasn't had much success challenging the league's power elite in the past...

Third, unless Rita had other plans (though Tom certainly did), it was Paul Tagliabue who stepped up and did the decent thing Post-Katrina giving hope to the people, fans of the Gulf Coast that would ensure that the Saints would return to their home, so there are influential people in the fans court...

Fourth, you've got Bobby Jindolly among other politicians who gave Benson the LL&E tower, the adjacent shopping mall and a host of other concessions to keep the Saints in New Orleans; he doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hades of getting elected to the WH, but he doesn't need this kind of baggage attached to his persona nor would any other aspiring politician want this going down on their watch...

I'm thoroughly convinced that the Commissioner, League Officials, Team Owners and Officials Present and Future that would sign off on moving the team (short of a Global Climate Shift with world tides rising twenty feet making all of South Louisiana below I-10 inhabitable for homo sapiens) would need 24/7 protection for them and their families for the remainder of their short days as there'd be a host of pi$$ed-off, armed cajuns seeking retribution (Think Braveheart, the fates of Lachlan, Mornay)...

So while the situation bears monitoring, and as was rightly pointed out, don't be too quick too judge, but fans should walk soft and carry a big stick in letting the Benson's know they need to police up their family laundry and get the schtuff rectified and not allow it to become a distraction like Junior's Unpaid Dancer...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...
