another draft thought thread
Here's my thinking of the draft situation. We take a guard first round. Collins from lsu perhaps. I know everyone wants a linebacker, but the linebackers aren't THAT amazing this draft and I think a solid one will be there come round 2. If we hit a good CB via free agency, then I think our pass rush will be right back or close to 2013 form. Brees needs time, our receiver group is a good one. Cooks/stills are only getting better. Obviously graham is a beast but if Brees is under pressure and on his back... they aren't quite as lethal. Just my thought process

I'm definitely hopeful that "wisnesiki"? Idk the center from Oakland will for some reason want to follow Dennis.

I think the O-Line will be fine if we just have someone who isn't completely washed up at center. Evans will bounce back from the hand injury and Grubbs will play much better without a turnstile next to him at center.

Re: another draft thought thread
i have to agree. i still have RT as the #1 area of need. draft Scherff or Collins would be a great move team wise and cap wise next year.
Strief battled injury the past two season and drafting either one would let the saints start to groom his replacement so Streif can move back in the depth chart and be the #1 swing man at back OT. Then you have Harris. Well after two years i have to put Harris experiment in the trash can. so take it one step further. Jake Fisher OT Oregon in the third would be a huge upgrade to Jarris. Smart and technically sound to take over the swing man back up roll and push for playing time from day one. Granted a year of OL heavy in 2015 seems a bit much but it would pay off in 2016 and help with the cap situation. Best case? Fisher should be ready to take over at RT, Streif goes to back up and Either Scherff or Collins moves into a guard position. thus allowing us to cut one of our high paid guards that will be so dead money appealing in their final year of the contract that it only would make sense. worse case? we have upgraded our backup OT greatly and got a starting RT/LG and possible cap savings to boot. we would have more flexibility going into the 2016 along the OL than we have in 2015. Besides this defense is not going to take us to the super bowl any time soon. Drew is the ticket and he can not do it laying on his back. |
