FA Running Backs
Now Deangelo Williams is in the mix, too.
Bad year for Ingram to become a FA- it's definitely a buyer's market this year. I'm not against a placeholder veteran for a year of two while we fix other positions https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...running-backs/ |
Re: FA Running Backs
Ingram will end getting his best offer from the Saints because the value of the running back position has diminished over the last few years. It will be up to him and his agent if he returns. I'll be happy if he does because he showed so much improvement this year but if not that's just the business side of the NFL

Re: FA Running Backs
He just needs to stay healthy... That is my only concern with Ingram. He has yet to finish 1 season without missing games due to injury.

Re: FA Running Backs
As a Saints fan, I'm elated DeAngelo was cut from the Kittens. This guy has gashed us so many times. He is a nice change of pace back but brittle.
He is 30+. That is old for a RB ... PASS. I'm still hoping we can somehow retain Roll Tide but chances are unlikely. |
Re: FA Running Backs
Your right!! He has gashed us alot!!
|
Re: FA Running Backs
He could always show back up in Carolina at a fraction of the price but for now yes its nice to see him gone

Re: FA Running Backs
Current Saints Running Backs:
Edwin Baker, 5' 8", 210 lbs, 23yrs Travaris Cadet, 6' 1", 210 lbs, 26 yrs Tim Hightower, 6' 0", 220 lbs, 28 yrs Khiry Robinson, 6' 0", 220 lbs, 25 yrs Pierre Thomas, 5' 11", 215 lbs, 30 yrs Noted Free Agent Running Backs: DeMarco Murray Mark 'Roll-Tide' Ingram Chris Johnson Ryan Matthews Darren McFadden Shane Vereen Jacquizz Rodgers Bilal Powell |
Re: FA Running Backs
Roy Helu could be low risk high reward signing.
|
Re: FA Running Backs
Khiry could become a work horse. He has shown a lot of potential.
|
Re: FA Running Backs
Shane Vereen and/or Powell.
|
Re: FA Running Backs
RB for me is almost an afterthought.
Unless it's Pierre Thomas I really don't care because there's such a glut of talent available. |
Re: FA Running Backs
I would love to see Vereen in black and gold. I think he would fit perfectly into that satellite/playmaker role we've been missing. I don't know that he would make as big of an impact as Sproles did, but I think the improvement would be easily noticeable.

Re: FA Running Backs
draft one if we lose ingram
Jeremy Langford gets my vote still |
Re: FA Running Backs
Bring back Reggie !!!
|
Re: FA Running Backs
Injury prone and ineffective lately. Avoids contact, drops... (detroit days)
Slomotion, do you agree? lol |

Re: FA Running Backs
Bush was a 1,000yd rusher in 2013.
Yes, he's injury prone but if the money is right I'd take him over Cadet. Limited role? Bush could be worth a look... |
Re: FA Running Backs
I would rather spend the money elsewhere and/or retain Roll Tide. Bush's tiime in N O has come and gone ... we have an up and comer in Khiry and ole reliable Pierre Thomas.
Pass |

That means we have Robinson, PT and.... Tim Hightower? Edwin Baker? If we know anything its that our RB's will miss time. For a cash-strapped team, having a guy like Reggie as a role player (assuming the dollars make sense) is a good idea. |

Re: FA Running Backs
Reggie was also a solid blocker. Not sure if he is still capable but we sure could use some help back there.

Re: FA Running Backs
Dont get the Reggie love
His worst ypc since 08 last year at uni 3.9,missed 5 games last year. 13 fumbles over the past 4 years. If you want a RB that has some security issues go get Ridley, younger and will get short yards. If you want a vet for cheap that can do everythung go get Ray Rice, one down year because he was hurt. Yes he has the offield concern but cheap and can get it done. Id rather take a cheap rookie |
Re: FA Running Backs
Ingram was an after thought that was an emotional response to his son nagging him into promising to draft him(according to his book Home Team).
He has never fit the system and would benefit from a change of scenery. I personally would be upset if he stays because he is so limited with what Payton can and will do with him. I'm an Alabama fan was stoked in the beginning but Ingram just hasn't produced the way I hoped he would. Unfortunately, we can't count on Roll Tide staying healthy. There are some good later round thumpers to pair with Khiry that would be more than welcome in New Orleans. |
Re: FA Running Backs
Roy Hulu or Shane Vareen come on down then draft some a RB in the mid rounds
|
Re: FA Running Backs
Now we can take Pierre Thomas off of our list of current running backs.
|
Re: FA Running Backs
Darren McFadden
|
Re: FA Running Backs
Adrian Peterson
|
Re: FA Running Backs
Mark Ingram

Re: FA Running Backs
I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan Matthews gets some consideration from us, decent runner and can catch out of the backfield.
|
Re: FA Running Backs
If Matthews lands here, wouldn't be the first time Saints turn Chargers trash into treasure
