Why the Saints Should pick Danny Shelton at 13
 

What is large, round, and would look amazing in Black and Gold? Danny Shelton. This human tank is probably the best defensive lineman in this draft outside of Williams and could be the ideal pickup for Rob Ryan and his 3-4 packages. Shelton is a monster of a man with enormous power that masks surprising athleticism. He is not only able to get great push and stop the run, but is also a very effective pass rusher for a Tackle. One of the biggest needs for this defense is a guy(s) who can create pressure up the middles so that quarterbacks are unable to step up as easily as they did last year. This gives the pass rushers the extra second they need to get the QB down and can also disrupt plays all on its own.

even if we draft Danny Shelton the saints need better play out of the NT unit as a whole. he can only do so much without a solid rotation.

I have never agreed with a thread more than I do this one. I believe all great 3-4 defenses have that one massive run stuffing guy who demands constant double teams and is impossible to move. Now that I've read this, I am convinced the Saints should draft the best interior lineman possible. OL or DL. We either need a great run blocker or a great run stuffer. WHODAT!

I used to be high on this kid,but it seems like every time I read an article or scouting report on guard and center prospects in the draft, I read a lot of " he held up very well against Danny Shelton" quotes. Don't really know how to take that. Does it mean that they're getting beat by Shelton,but holding up as well as anybody can,or are they stopping him dead in his tracks?

I'm torn on this draft pick. I like him but he won't be there at thirteen when we pick. So, we either burn more draft picks and move up for him or we stay where we are and pick up a solid top ten pick at thirteen. We have too many holes to fill to fill.

If he is there at #13, I say call his name and welcome him to New Orleans.
