Saints officially released LB Curtis Lofton today. Saints released ILB Curtis Lofton. The Saints had been shopping Lofton for trade, but predictably found no takers. The move clears $4.25 million in space for the cap-strapped Saints. A durable compiler, Lofton has never missed a game while racking up tackles, but is coming off an extremely rough 2014. He was uneven all three of his years in New Orleans. Going on 29, Lofton has been a starter for his entire seven-year career, but may have to accept a reduced role in free agency.
