Question about Galette
Is there a specific reason why Junior insists on playing in a three point stance at the line rather than as a stand up Lb ? To me this makes him nothing more than a pass rusher than a complete olb. That in itself becomes a liability in a 3-4 set and seems more suited to being a 4-3 de. That being said, wouldn't it be better if Junior were a situational pass rusher & the D have a true lb on most downs ?
Any ideas? |
Re: Question about Galette
been saying it for a few years now, Jr is a situational pass rusher at best. he has improved a bit in the other aspects but not enough IMO to be a 3 down LB. issue is the depth behind him stinks as it does up and down the defensive front.

Re: Question about Galette
The same reason track stars start off in the same stance, looking for that explosion off the line...
In theory, quicker off the line |
Re: Question about Galette
It's very rare that we actually line up in a 3-4, but when we do Junior is standing up... Like the safety he had against Tampa Bay last season. Most of the time he's playing DE in our nickel defense when we have four down lineman. That's his best role: nickel DE.

Re: Question about Galette
Gallete rated out well againt the run last year... better than most of our players. Now I do agree he should be playing standing up and if he were a true olb then pass coverage would need to be in his vocabulary.

Re: Question about Galette
jr is hard to evaluate just like so many of the front 7 because the saints did an absolute crappy job of building depth. rotation? what rotation? the starters are on the field way too much.

Re: Question about Galette
three point? JG is always in a 4 point stance which is even more unusual

Re: Question about Galette
He looks like a silver back Gorilla when he's in his four point stance.
