Curtis Lofton to New Orleans Saints fans: 'I got to play for Who Dat Nation for 3 great years'
1 Attachment(s)
Linebacker Curtis Lofton, released by the New Orleans Saints on Monday, said being cut "sucks," but he won't be discouraged.
He also thanked fans, his teammates and the Bensons for his time with the team. Lofton, 28, hasn't missed a game in seven years in the NFL and said he doesn't play to stop playing. Whoever signs him will get "one hell of a ball player," he wrote. Here is the full text of his message, which was posted originally on his Twitter account. "A man is measured by what it takes to discourage him! "I WON'T BE DISCOURAGED! "Being released sucks, but I have many reasons to count my blessings and look on the brighter side. I got to play and lay it all on the line for THE WHO DAT NATION for three great years. You guys will always be a part of me. Thank you! "To my former teammates - WEIRD saying that - we had our ups and downs over our three years playing together. But I can walk away knowing that I'm going to have friendships that I'll take to my grave. Thank you, guys! "To the Bensons, coaches and Saints organization, thanks for giving a country boy a chance to play in N'awlins! http://imgick.nola.com/home/nola-med...461-mmmain.jpg "Lastly, I will take my passion, my love to compete and love for this great game elsewhere. I can assure you that whatever team I end up with will get one hell of a ball player. I've just got to trust God and know he's in control. When he orders our steps, all he asks for us to do is follow - and that's what I'm going to do! ✌️" link back |

What a classy way to go out. Big difference than how he went out in Atlanta.

Or maybe it's just because we've had up and down results the past few years on defense. Top 5 to bottom 5.

I posted this in the Lofton released thread, but it fits far better here:
The Saints got three good years out of him and his contract was structured for an easy release this year. It was an amiable separation it appears. The guy is pure class. My oldest son who coaches Lofton's neighbor's child, was given a signed game jersey by Lofton himself. It is framed on his wall in Metairie. It looks damned good and would go well with all my other Saints collection, but it was given to my son and he would never let me have it. Here it is while I had it to get it framed at the top of my Saints shrine. By the way, I lost a bet with a Seahawks fan and had to take pictures of the hat he sent me. http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...pscd5ea1f1.jpg http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps95bc6cd5.jpg Lofton is pure class all the way. |

He was far and away our best LB. Whenever a RB immediately dropped upon contact, you just knew it was Lofton on the tackle. We're gonna find out if you can just plug guys in to do this like you seem to be able to at RB.
