And Browner has drug/substance issues too.

Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Lewis needs to pipe the funk down.

Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Saints are now interested in Brandon browner! Wtf

Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
New Orleans Saints interested in Brandon Browner, report says | NOLA.com Don't want him, he might have a relapse on peds
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
demanding, the man is in no position to demand...
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
If any of this is true, Keenan should take a deep breath & calm down. I think there are a lot of rumors going around and it is difficult to know what is true & what is not. Let's wait for the dust to settle before we start calling players out.

Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Ian saying eveyone on the roster made available? If true (and I like the idea) it sends a message.

aOk NOLA.
I agree with everyone on Browner. Pass on that. Substance abuse and penalty machine. Two strikes the Saints do not need . The Saints do not need anyone nor anything to add to the loss of yards, penalties, etc. It is hard as hell, and you all know that , for the Saints to come back after a penalty or even make it happen when in the red zone. |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Not much love for our # 1 corner here.
He's emotional and pissed we are getting rid of guys... a lot of us are pissed about losing PT and Lofton. Breesus said last year he was disappointed to lose Sproles and Moore. So what? Cut the guy some slack- he shot off comments without thinking and he's already recanted |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
i fully understand his emotions. many voiced concern last year and to watch as the same type of moves being made again this year has me concern to the point i say; load the offense and lets sets some records and accept whatever the defense gives us.

If it were truly about the players, he would have just threw a ***** fit and asked to be traded or cut... not more money.

Like I said, emotional guy, flew off the handle, came back and asked for a do-over. Of course, looking at the next two years of his deal, the writings on the wall- his base more than doubles next year |

Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
It's one in the same. Players don't often finish out their contracts which is why all the guaranteed money is typically received early in the contract. Guaranteeing his contract is essentially asking for the money he was never going to get.
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Money doesn't change people, it just highlights more clearly who they already are.
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Welcome to South New England (in theory, at least)...
Only the QB is untouchable (at least for a while) |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
So if we give Lewis more guaranteed money, how does it help our run blocking?
|
Re: Keenan Lewis frustrated over contract and letting go of key players, threatens hold out
I hope he stays. If he leaves it is just another big hole we have to fill.
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
I see no reason to let him go though. At 2.5 million this year, he's a bargain. The only way he leaves is if someone gives us a really good offer for him.
I take my kick rocks statement back. He's stuck like chuck and he's just going to have to deal with it. |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
We really need to keep him, but I still think it's not too swift to be raising hell while a housecleaning is going on.
Give the changes a chance - not like the past 3 years of D have instilled fear in the rest of the NFL |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Giving Lewis more money improves our run blocking by making us light in the pocket. That in turn makes us faster on the blocks.
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Does anyone remember when he got his concussion and was begging to get back in the game? He's an emotional man and he's passionate.
Sometimes you shouldn't say what your thinking.........or put it on social media. He is already back tracking on his statement. He's the best corner we've got by far. I think he's a great Saint and I'm not changing my opinion of him because of one tweet. He's passionate and I think we could use more of that. |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
A few years back we wouldnt have heard anything, but social media means anything said is reported. He was one of a few that give a damn last year and gave everything
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Agreed, Keenan is very emotional and passionate however he needs to realize football is a business, not a college frat house.
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
He cant do a damn thing but play better and earn a better deal... Thats the contract you signed fool!!!!

Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
There is a time and a place for everything.
Many struggle to get it right on either count. Some struggle to get it right on any one of them. |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
IDK, in the apparent mood the Saints FO is in, I would think some of the guys would just keep it to themselves ... I understand he's passionate, he's upset his buddies are being let go, feels like "he's next" and wants some reassurance of his value to the team ... instead of going on Twitter (Instagram or wherever-the-heck) to vent like some junior-high schoolgirl, man-up and assume a leadership role left vacant on the team, for crissake, ... what is it with these guys? Is that how you conduct business? Social media will be the end of civilization, IMO..

Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
WOW, there are a lot of CBs on the market to be demanding against a management that has shown no one is safe. Keenan was great for us last year, but on a defense that didn't have too many positives in the first place.
But hey, not all in for the Saints or trusting your coach, see you! |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
He needs to STFU. He is turning into a whiny ***** and **** talker. He needs to STFU
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
The most frustrating thing in sports. The complete lack of understanding of what a contract is, or the outright disregard and disrespect for what it is. When I hear someone whine "I want more security", it makes me laugh. There is nothing more secure than a contract. You are agreeing to a certain set of financial guidelines, meaning even if you are released you know the exact amount that is guaranteed. There is nothing else like a contract.
So you have that security to begin with, but then to ask for more before your contract is up? I'm all for free market, and people trying to get what they can get (though I think professional sports have gotten out of hand in the massive overvaluing of players), but wait till your contract is up, unless your employer actually offers you a better deal first. But players and even many coaches fail to recognize the spirit of a contract, and they want to break the agreement and get something extra. Now, if you want to sit there and say "well I have outplayed my expectations and I don't feel it's a fair deal anymore" (which is precisely the argument given all the time), and you want to ask for a restructure... I still think you should wait till your contract is up before worrying about the next one, but at least asking for a raise is better than threatening to hold out. You agreed to a deal. If you think you outplayed that deal, then maybe you should have had more confidence in your ability before signing the contract in the first place. Don't be a big baby because you think you deserve this or that, and you're friends are getting traded. It's football, it's a business, same as it was when he decided to leave the Steelers to come to us. Every team and player is looking out for what's best for them, even if we don't always agree with the decisions. |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Don't be fooled. Teams protect themselves against player contracts as much as possible too.
Just because you hear someone signed a $30M contract doesn't mean they'll receive it. |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract

Keenan saying he doesn't trust the Saints or feel secure right now is plain stupid. He's going to get all of his guaranteed money, and even if we for some reason wanted to trade him, then he'll make his money elsewhere. He has no reason to be worried. We're trying to build a better defense, in case he missed that part, which means if he keeps performing he'll be here. Jimmy was traded because he was an expensive luxury. We don't have luxuries on defense. |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
In general i do have some sympathy with players wanting to know were they are long term. There are not many job were you sign to live and work in one city for x amount of year and the company then says we are transferring you all the way across country. If you have move to be closer to home and put your kids in school and bought a house the last thing you need is getting told you are moving thousands of miles away
|
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
I'm feeling for Keenan. He played his heart out last season. Bad knee and all and would not back down.
Now we're here not giving him any love. If I was Keenan playing and putting the effort like he did, I would want some security as well. It's not like hes asking for more money. |
Re: Keenan Lewis demands Saints guarantee contract
Better a year early than a year late. His skinny body is starting to break down. It is what it is.
