Re: Keenan Lewis

I really hope any issues get sorted behind closed doors and he stays.
We would eat more dead money($2ml) trading him,he is also one of the best corners in the league and seriously tough. If this team wants to build a top notch defense you need players like Lewis.

Boy, that @$$ sure tightened up quick as things got Real...

Re: Keenan Lewis

Um, yeah, whatever, ... nothing says 'leaving was never an option' more than specifically saying it's time to take your talent elsewhere, 'New Orleans it's been good' and threatening to boycott OTA's if you're not released or traded via Instagram,.

Congratulations KL, you're lucky enough to still be on the team ... maybe next time don't be so quick to show your ass, just sayin' ... you are supposed to be a professional after all,.

It should be in these guys' contracts that they're not allowed to be on social media, JMO.

lee909 03-14-2015 05:38 AM

Re: Keenan Lewis

I would make any comments on internal team maters a finable offence in contracts. Players need to stop airing dirty laundry in public.

Mr.Riaton 03-14-2015 08:12 AM

Re: Keenan Lewis

I don't think players should be banned from using social media. They're grown men that should know by now how to be discreet and professional. I agree with Lee...they should be fined if they leak out private matters.

Re: Keenan Lewis

I know the guy saw some friend leave but the bottom line was the team was a disaster last year and things had to be shaken up and a good dose of "you're expendable" may wake up any remaining underachievers.

Bottom line for KL is that he should have tweeted he would miss his friends a lot and wished them the best, then kept has yap closed until he saw who they brought in as replacements.

Exactly right. Spot on.

he is the only true starting CB we got. Browner is a 3rd CB that is an enforcer for certain type of WR/RB/TE. dam good at too.

Keenan Lewis wants to retire a New Orleans Saint, says his heart is with hometown team | NOLA.com

AsylumGuido 03-15-2015 10:32 AM

Re: Keenan Lewis

Y'all lay off the kid. He settled for less money to come to his hometown of New Orleans. He was scared of some of the moves being made because he never wants to leave the Saints. He tweeted one small message in frustration and quickly came out and said he was just upset, but y'all keep piling on. Lewis is exactly the kind of player we need on our roster. He has talent and WANTS to be in New Orleans more than anything.

So lay off, okay?

Fans have the right to rant and express there opinions too. When the dust settles, I'm sure both parties are glad Lewis is still a Saint. They're athletes and the comments they make, especially via social media, are scrutinized and blown out of proportion all the time. It just comes with the territory.

Sure rant away, if there is really anything to rant about. The only dust that needs to settle are the clouds around fans, and I'll admit some media hacks, too, that don't have a clue what they are ranting about.

Of course there was something to rant about. If there weren't, he wouldn't have apologized and re-canted some of the things he said. The dust needs to settle around him too.

ESPN.com Tuesday that he wasn’t feeling happy or secure with seeing so many teammates shipped out of town over the past two years. And he vowed, “I will be a distraction if they can’t do that for me, period."

Exactly..its not like he just said one little thing and it got over blown. No..he said several different things at different times..so I'll stand by my original statement..Sounds like someone got put in check!

Re: Keenan Lewis

Keenan went waaay off the reservation and he (and maybe agent) thought they could rattle the tree...

Only problem was he found out who the Man really is and it backfired in his face...

Guy is a great competitor and plays with passion, I get that, applaud that...

But you never, N-E-V-E-R, air your in-house grievances or contract dissatisfaction via any media, especially Twitter, thinking you'll force Coach Payton's hand...

You man up, geaux into his office and keep the discussion localized without any public displays or disrespect nor insubordination - especially when you're asking the man to give you more money...

Exactly where did he ever ask "the man" for more money? He said guarantees, not more money, because he didn't want to leave New Orleans. He is a young kid afraid that his dream could come crashing down around him. If he was in it for the money he would never have come here in the first place.

Papz, we've gone at it a few times, but you slammed it home on that post...

We can all agree that we'll all disagree...

But this political correct policing that we aren't suppose to come on this site and have free speech and voice criticisms and concerns is bullshinski...

Keenan pulled some real BS taking to twitter like he did...

He has the right to say what he wants, but he better be ready for the consequences...

And if you think that when adversaries or people when in negotiations don't take notice of that, or further...

That is could compromise an ongoing contract negotiation to make the Saints better...

That conduct could be detrimental to the team...

IDK, asking to guarantee money/change your contract is akin to asking for "more money", IMO. Guy gets what he deserves from the fans, also IMO. What's probably most insulting is how he tried to brush it off with the "leaving was never an option" statement ... just own it & say "I'm sorry". People make mistakes, the fans aren't stupid and will forgive. A lot of these guys should just stay away from social media & focus on playing ball, again IMO. Hopefully KL learned a valuable lesson, #shrug.

Proud Irish/Ukrainian here ... Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone, :).

dam i am walking example of the American melting pot. dads side has been over here so long you name it we got it.

my moms side messed up the harmony mix 100% Irish fresh of the spud boat.

so i can insult pretty much everyone IMO. I do too. no sacred cows in my barn. race religion politics they are all fair game.

It's a George Carlin way of thinking. insulate every one equally that way you can never be accused of favoritism. that is such an ugly word
