LSU Collins #13
Collins would be an upgrade @ RT And OG. Proven, short memory ,punishing road grader in the run game .good pass blocker. Mean streak . That's the power style of player that we need to play the power style I think SP wants. Gives saints flexibility at tackle and guard.
Pass rusher is only position I feel we should address at#13 but if their gone ??? |

G Sherff or Collins at 13, LB Harold, McKinney or Perryman at 31

Re: LSU Collins #13
need a LG and we need the the flex to kick out to RT because strief can switch to LT if Armstead gets injured. now who steps in at LG is the question. camp will be fun this year.
Don't worry about that back up LG question if a OT goes down? Get the OT swing man of the draft Jake Fisher, Harris had his shot over the past two years and did not come close to cutting it. he must be replaced. when Strief went down then Armstead poor Drew was a sitting duck both times. Plus he has the makings to take over at RT when Strief is done. then there is the Ali Marpet Hobert freak show in the draft. saints love these guys. they have worked out will on day two. Evans repacement when he is done? now the OL would have an honest shot at being set for a complete changing of the guard in the next two years. then again i did see a mock that had us at 13 Brandon Scherff at 31 La'el Collins was still on the board :bs:i know but that pipe dream would be a thing of beauty. |

now we have Orson Charles? Nick Becton?do you think they can step up? or is this going to be yet another crap shot on the OL that comes up snake eyes? we got the picks and we have the players that are ready to turn over. why wait? |
Re: LSU Collins #13
I want them to find a replacement for Strief so they can cut him in the next 2/3 years

Steif i would keep at back up for over loaded jumbo formation till he wants to retire. in a pinch you are still hard pressed to find a better OT |
Re: LSU Collins #13
im still trying to figure out what we are planning to do with evans, are we really going to pay him 11mil??

Re: LSU Collins #13
I prefer Collins over Scherff. If theres no good available D players at 13 I hope we trade back a couple of picks for him if he's available. That would be a win win.

Re: LSU Collins #13
Absolutely hate the idea of spending the 13th pick on...a right tackle...

Zach Martin is an absolute STUD (now converted to guard). |
Re: LSU Collins #13
Judging by the start of this off-season, I have every bit of trust in the staff to handle the draft like it should be.

Re: LSU Collins #13
I have no idea what this team is going to do at this point. I like Collins but helping out immediately, I don't see it and we are short on time. The more I look at it I can see us trading up for a WR. Payton will not let the offense suffer losing two targets.

Re: LSU Collins #13
Being a LSU fan I'd still prefer Scherff over Collins but wouldn't be mad with either one getting picked.

I am absolutely with you on your first point. I have no idea where the Saints will go this year in the draft but I am excited at the possibilities. |
Re: LSU Collins #13
we really need a guard that can come in this year and play. we are going to have to look at tackle to take over for Strief in the next few as well. We need 1 or 2 guards to be honest. Evans won't be here next year unless he restructures and extends.
I am adding to this, what about lelito? If we keep Evans for this season does he take over next season as our other guard, assuming we pick one up in the draft? Is there a possibility that we trade Jhari during the draft, does anyone think he will restructure? |
Re: LSU Collins #13
We will take Amari Cooper if he's there.
Hide and watch... :couch: |

Re: LSU Collins #13
NOOOOOOOO .... tired of them using mid round picks on defensive players that don't pan out, now is the time to actually mix in some "blue chip" prospects on Def if they pan out

Its a can't miss spot at 13. There will be a 5-star player available at either DE, WR, DT, OLB, CB or OL. I hope we stay at 13 and simply take the BPA of that group. We have a need at every one of those spots. Now if we did go offense at 13, I sure hope we go BPA on defense at 31 or move up or down to draft some quality prospects. |

I actually agree with you that I hope they just stay put at 13,31 and use one on both sides of the ball |
Re: LSU Collins #13
I would be very surprised if we kept both 1's. Two very good WR's up there and we have the ability to get one with little to no pain. Certainly won't ruin our draft like Atlanta

Re: LSU Collins #13
Do Not Move Up With The 13th Pick!!! Maybe with the 31st but even then there will be too many impact players available in a position of need when we pick. There are always starters available in the 2nd round. The problem is identifying the player who fits your system best and has the least risk.
No more project players in the second round or third round even. Maybe in the 4th round. And stop taking high risk/high reward players in the draft. It feels like there is always more risk involved than any actual reward when we gamble on players. Let's stay put and draft several several blue chip starters in the early rounds. If we want to package some of our low picks for a higher draft pick to get an impact player I hope they pull the trigger. I would prefer to package a couple of our mid to late round picks if we have targeted a player who falls. Although, I hesitate doing that because we draft pretty well in the later rounds. The mid rounds is where we can have success with a developmental project that has starter potential. We just need to identify the talent better on both sides of the ball in the mid rounds and walk away with some quality backups that can develop into starters. We seem to do well in the late rounds and I'm split on whether we should bundle them and move up or if we should stay put and hope to find more diamonds in the rough. Typically we also have an unusually strong UDFA class so I feel better about packaging late round picks to get a particular player. After that we have to worry about paying our draft picks........and everyone knows we're poor. |
Re: LSU Collins #13
I see BPA @ 13 and moving up or down in the 31 spot. Ideally I'd like to get another pick from a team like Houston, looking for a QB.
