Comp pick in 7th
Right now we are slated for the last pick of the draft, a compensatory 7th rounder for, would you believe, Charles Brown?

Re: Comp pick in 7th
Why didnt we ever get one for Bushrod/De La Puente/ Etc?
I forget who else has left our team the past couple years via free agency but i know theres a couple more that should qualify for one? |
Re: Comp pick in 7th
I tried to make sense of that article. It didn't. I don't understand comp picks. Never really have. I mean New England gets a 3rd rounder???? That's bs. They're still a good team. They don't need compensation for not resigning a player. What happens next year? They get a free first rounder because they lost Revis?

This is feeling like the 2006 offseason more and more every day.

Re: Comp pick in 7th
another offensive lineman or kicker. We will win the division this year because no one knows what coach is going to do. He keeps saying run heavy but I bet ya when all is said and done its 50/50 run and 10/15 yard passes

Re: Comp pick in 7th
Charlie Brown was good for something.

So we finally get a comp pick... and its mister irrelevant.
Seriously? |
Re: Comp pick in 7th
The last time the Saints had the last pick in the NFL Draft was 1967...
We selected Jimmy Smith, Wide Receiver, Providence... Smith declined to play for the Saints, settling instead for a career in basketball... Jimmy Smith was the No. 1 Overall Pick by the Detroit Pistons in the 1967 NBA Draft... So if our Mr. Irrelevant doesn't work out, he can always play for the Pelicans... And he'd have one helluva parade as no one can parade like New Orleans... |

Here's the most basic way to look at it: We signed Byrd and Lorig we lost DLP, Jenkins and Brown. net-net on salaries + we lost one more than we gained, so we get one pick at the lowest tier. As Brown is the lowest of the lowest, we get the last 7th round pick. trades and cuts don't figure in |

It's time to do away with comp picks...
Of course the Ravens have better drafts, they get more picks than the rest of the league combined!!! |

I hate this program. Primarily because we suck at getting the extra picks. Panthers got two.

Re: Comp pick in 7th
It makes sense...
If you draft well and lose good players to free agency you get comp picks. If you sign free-agents because you suck at drafting, you don't get comp picks. There's a good reason we don't get comp picks. |

I'll probably miss some names off by accident but going from memory we lost these decent players to free agency Reggie bush, Robert meachem, Tracy porter, Roman harper, Carl Nicks, Jamaal Brown, Jermon Bushrod, Malcolm Jenkins. |

The others cancelled out by signings... don't remember all, but it was Byrd for Jenkins, and Grubbs for Nicks |
Re: Comp pick in 7th
Its rubbish the way it works
The pats loose Verner who they had one year, sign Revis and get a third. Why because as Revis was cut from Tampa he doesn't count as a FA. The system the way it is puts those teams getting high comp picks in a strong position to get them again |
Re: Comp pick in 7th
Byrd, Grubbs, Watson, Lofton, Sproles, Hawthorne, Bunkley, David Thomas, Lorig, Deaderick, Goodwin (twice), were all free agents that cancelled out our losses.

Projecting the Compensatory Draft Picks for 2015 - Over the Cap Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.
