It just illustrates how popular of a team the Saints have been under Loomis and SP.

I don't think one should really draw any meaningful connections from this to how the teams have drafted since both the Saints and the Cowboys have had their share of duds.

Loomis and co had some great drafts early on, but the last 4 have been awful and this league is built upon drafting good talent. Hell, in 06 we drafted nothing but pro-bowl talent lol.

What it really means is that we find Pro Bowl talent somewhere other than the first round.

You're missing the point.

Shows you what the GM can do at finding PRO BOWL TALENT... Everyone has misses but when you pick them at the rate Loomis is doing loading up on picks and letting him do his job he is going to find more than the average bear.

Pro Bowl voting just isn't a valid measuring device IMO - case and point Colston having never been voted in, but an injured Evans, in a down-year, makes the Pro Bowl simply on reputation.

Just arguing against the validity of this assessment.

True, but I was just using Evans as a familiar example.

There are multiple Pro Bowl choices of the past, who should never have been selected based on their actual performances compared to their contemporaries.

Again, I'm not saying the assessment is wrong - only that the basis it's founded upon isn't valid IMO.

I agree with you to a degree. All I'm saying is the players that are picked because of popularity are the vets that have been there over and over so they're kinda grandfathered in so to speak. But I don't think there's any player that at one point in time didn't deserve to be there. I think that stat about Loomis is pretty valid,because every Saint that made the pro bowl under his drafting deserved to be there at one point in time.

As Riaton stated, the article designates a player that has made at least one or more pro-bowls.

99% of 1st time pro-bowlers deserved it.

The reptation vote is mostly for respected vets that have been their numerous times before.
