I wonder if we'll let him return kickoffs for us.

Re: Fastest guy in Stadium, says SP about CJ
Yeah, but can he tackle? Can he kick it between the uprights? :)
Hopefully he'll be at least as fun to watch while wearing the Black and Gold. |

First the draft plans and now this, Jesus H Christ Payton .... why don't you just let them know what plays are coming next too

Spiller will be Payton's X-factor that he loves so much.

"Let me finish.." LOL, Coach is excited about CJ. Love Sproles and Bush, made a lot of amazing plays for us but CJ seems to have the best of both of them, great combo of power and speed and ability to run inside. If he can stay on the field, along with Cooks we are going to punish defenses.

His lateral movement is amazing!

Re: Fastest guy in Stadium, says SP about CJ
And he's not afraid to go up the middle or run into contact

Re: Fastest guy in Stadium, says SP about CJ
Damn that jump cut is nasty! Surely he'll make the #21 jersey look better than P Rob and Mike Bell.

What is the word on CJ Spiller's hands and route running skills? If he has good hands, Payton will get him 60+ catches this year. We actually don't need him to run routes from the slot. He will be most valuable if he can run between the tackles enough so the defense stays honest when he's in. Teams basically knew when Sproles and Reggie were in that we were throwing or running outside, so they could counter with nickel defenses. Nobody else seems to think so, but I think Spiller could definitely become our starter and our feature back.

Re: Fastest guy in Stadium, says SP about CJ
The thing that impresses me the most is how Spiller will change speeds. He has great patience and vision.
Bush and Ingram both struggled with setting up their blockers. They'd just run full speed often outrunning their blockers, or right into the back of them. Spiller has nice patience, waits for the block then explodes full speed ahead. I love how many of those highlights showed the initial hole wasn't there, but he quickly changed direction and found one. PT was one of the best at that. This kid looks like a winner too. |
