Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
In 2013 we still got one game after a 7-9 record. But last season was worse than that season and there are a lot more teams that had more wins than us last year. I mean can we still get at least one game over a team like Buffalo who went 9-7 or teams that may deserve more than 1 SNF game such as Arizona, Kansas City(9-7 though), SF(but do they?)? If lions get a second game I could see it being against us. Denver will have better options and KC is playing them in London. And Seattle hosting Detroit is unappealing. We also have them, Arizona, Indianapolis that are all SNF worthy. But with how we have been dogged by the media this offseason I don't know if NBC considers us worthy of SNF.

Saints will no doubt remain on because of Drew Brees.

Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
i say it depends on the draft. get some of those glorified press friendly picks and we have a shot at more than one. go a boring draft, get little media coverage and i agree it will be strictly the Drew factor that could land us one.

Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
I am going to say probably two games for the Saints. Despite the down year and the loss of Jimmy Graham, the Saints are still considered a good team by many and still has decent national appeal mainly due to Drew Brees. IMO the most likely match up would by the Dallas game and the second being either Indianapolis or maybe one of the Carolina games.

Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
I don't think so. These decisions are driven by ratings and popularity and the Saints are NOT all that anymore, not after last year, or the last 2-3 years.
If they're competitive, they may get a later game FLEXED into prime time, with playoff implications, but I don't see the networks investing a lot of interest or energy in the Saints right now at the start of the season. Maybe ONE game if there's nothing else going on that night. You saw how when we traded Graham, the Vegas odds of us winning the Super Bowl went down so much? No Sproles, no Graham, front office turmoil, no big name celebrity players besides Brees, who the media desperately wants to see traded somewhere else -- they are not that interested in us, my friends. The Super Bowl was a long time ago. It's 'what have you done for me lately?' The Saints got blown out by Dallas (boring game) and they only beat the Packers barely, because of Rodgers hammie. I'm not saying that's really the case, but that's the way these people think. They decide these games based on ratings and media storylines and lowest-common denominator type fluff stuff. Seattle will have a ton of games as will Denver. Giants will have 2 or 3 games because of Odell Beckham's one handed catch and Victor Cruz's dancing. You really can't overthink the level of this stuff. We are basically like, on the level of a lowly San Diego or Cincinatti right now -- maybe one or two good players, but they really don't care what we do. |

The less the better for me
Getting up at 1/2am isnt fun. Saints home games are 6pm for me and though its a rush to get back from work its the best time. |
Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
we will get at least one and maybe 2. We might have a losing record but never bad like we used to be. We lose in the game most of the time. I would love to see us play Carolina or Atlanta just because. I don't think TB is going to do much this season.

Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
We still put up points and that is what fans want to see. Expect at least one prime time game.

Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
1 TNF, 1 SNF and 2 MNF games.
We draw viewers. |
Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
Drew Brees is the equivalent of Prime Time in the ninety's, lol...

IIRC, the Saints could have scored more but kicked FGs instead. The Saints in over the Packers had absolutely zero to do with Rodgers pulling his hamstring. |
Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
I hate to say it. We will probably get a Falcons game on prime time...boring!

It won't be a ton. 3 is the max and after back to back below .500 seasons I don't think giants get 2 games. They got 2 games last year scheduled. Here's how I see NBC's process going(including pats opener and Thanksgiving) They will obviously start with Dallas 1.Dallas(3 games) Automatics-Giants and Eagles, the other @Green Bay 2.New England(3 games) Pittsburgh(opener), @Denver, Philadelphia(not much of a choice) 3.Seattle(2 games, not enough appeal for a third) Automatics-SF, the other Arizona. No room for GB or Dallas to play them. 4.Green Bay(3 games) Automatics-Detroit(annual 1-2 division match), others Dallas, @Denver 5.Denver(3 games) Automatic-NE, others GB, @Indianapolis 6.Indianapolis(2 games) Denver, @Pittsburgh(because of last game) 7.Pittsburgh(3 games) Automatic-Baltimore, others @NE and Indianapolis 8.Baltimore(2 games) Automatic-Pittsburgh, the other I think will be SD 9.Arizona(1 game, possibly 2) Seattle, their second could be us or Philadelphia 10.Detroit(1 game, possibly 2) Automatic-GB, their second could be us or Philadelphia 11.Philadelphia(2 games, possibly 3) Automatic-Dallas don't think they will have giants this time because of giants record, the other at NE and one against Arizona/Detroit 12.Cincinatti(1 game) KC. Houston is also a option but another team needs them more. 13.Carolina(7-8 moves them underneath the other playoff teams and those that generate buzz like eagles)(1 game) Houston........there is literally nothing else for them. They may actually not get any SNF game but they won the division. 14.KC(1 game, possibly 2) Cincinatti and if a second Buffalo or SD. 15.SD(1 game, possibly 2) Baltimore and if a second KC. 16.Houston(1 game) Carolina 17.NYG(1 game) Automatic-Dallas That leaves these six games as candidates for two remaining games Arizona@Philadelphia New Orleans@Arizona Detroit@New Orleans Philadelphia@Detroit Buffalo@Kansas City Kansas City/San Diego Phi/Ari cancels out Phi/Det and vice versa that would then leave the left over against us to go against one of Buf/KC and KC/SD. |

They never give us Atl or Car on SNF and Atl is likely getting none since they went below .500 again and do not have the clout NYG or Dallas has. |
Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
I forgot about SF its possible they could play Detroit but that one only. They were only getting 2 to begin with the last three years.

with 46 PT games in the NFL (92 teams), we are still likely to get 3 or 4. |
Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
Well of course we will get two ESPN games and TNF is a requirement. NBC is the benchmark for marquee matchups in primetime however. And CBS first eight weeks will take TNF games that feature the popular teams in at least one part of the matchup. But I am scratching my head at how Atlanta and TB got to be on CBS over us and Carolina last year.

Of course we'll have a Sunday Night Football game... We have to play a Thursday night game so you just know we'll get the Sunday night game four days before our Thursday game!

Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
^Even after the players lashed out at the NFL for it in their press conference?

Re: Does anyone think we'll get a scheduled SNF game this year?
2 other teams btw had a SNF before a Thurday but difference was they played at home on Thursday. One played at home both nights.
